TTL's 40TB Server Build

Nice work Tom, really like the way you managed to make room for all the drives and an extra fan while maintaining the stock look

You got any links matey?
Not finding any good solid linkage. A number of sata backplanes out there, but the problem will be sizing the slots to pcb spacing. Biggest cache is on ebay (yuck).

I have some icydock efforts in use currently. Also, I have some 4x pcb in the house that I was sent from a case manufacturer. The idea being, they're an optional accessory. Lemme find those and you can talk to the case manufacturer. Be a bonus if it was Fractal, but I'm pretty sure it's CoolerMaster.

Awesome work with the case, Tom!
Will you post or do some video about how you'll set up the OS to this server?
I really like to see how do you config the server after its finished.

Starting to look bloody sweet love how it still lools quite stock keep the vids on this going love to see how it turns out

Hi Tom,

I have just watched the third part of your videos on the WD40 Server.

First off your work is truly excellent. In fact for me it shows that Fractal should develop a version of the R5 for server use.

Anyway what i wanted to ask is this, given that i am not too much of a modder but i am thinking about a server in an R5 with something like 13 drives. I would like 16 but i am not sure if 16 can be fitted in the R5.

Is it possible to:
1. move the 5 drives cage and screw it to the top after you have removed everything of course.
2. add another 5 drives cage underneath it (will this require special modding like you did?). Do you know if the 5 drives cage can be purchased separately or the one you used came from another case?
3.and lastly use the 3 drives cage next to the big tower of drives?

Sorry if the question is a bit off topic but the videos did inspire me to try it.

Youd need a second case - they dont sell parts seperately. you would need to do modding to do what I have, it doesnt just clip together. If youre looking for it to be easy then it wont be this way matey. Youd be better off with a massive Lian Li case with all HDD's in the front

I did not expect such a quick answer.

i know that they do not clip together, anyway what puts me off the most is the need for a second case for the drive cage, if i could purchase them separately i would not mind an attempt at modding in order to make everything fit.

As for the massive case option this is what i have been trying to avoid by going with the R5. I had a look at the nanoxia deep silence 6 case as well (yes is an old model) but its depth is prohibiting for me.

Anyway thank you for you time. Keep up the really good work,

Unless of cause he goes the Caselabs or Parvum route. ;)

You can't beat a guy while hes...beating. :D
Ooh that's a whole different sport altogether

My idea for a logo

So I'm sorta new to the community and I'm not exactly sure if you have selected a persons logo for your project yet but I thought I would share what I have so far and hopefully get some feedback!

Sorry for the bad quality.

You might have some copyright problems with calling it WD40

It is good at stopping door hinges squeeking though...................:D
