Toshiba Releases the "dynadock"

You've probably already tried to figure out exactly what a product called the "dynadock" would do, in the short time it's taken to load this page (OC3D Load Times are God!) and you may well be right. Problem is, you'll have to check out the article to see exactly what this new gadget is. I'll be as bold to say, "Trust me, you'll like it." (No bandwidth back guarantee). So check out the news article to solve the case.

Tell us what you think afterwards. Is it the next gizmo on your list?

first thing that went through my head was a mental image of a ship dock run by dinosaurs with yellow hard hats on

So it's like a cool KVM with some extra's?

That sounds like a fair analysis.

I think it's a docking station with built in graphics and sound.

Don't think it does graphics, just looks like it acts as a Video switcher with some sound options

The dynadock is available in two versions--DVI or VGA. The integration of either video port allows the user to connect multiple displays and when combined with an optical-audio port for 7.1 digital sound, it delivers an enhanced multimedia experience. The dynadock also features serial, headphone, microphone and Ethernet ports.

Users can purchase a VGA or DVI version for $149.99 and $179.99 respectively.

If it dosent have built in graphics then how do expect a desktop to have video outputed from this thing? Thats why i was saying probably just a good thing for laptops. I dont see why a docking station would be a good thing for a desktop.

In basic terms its a friggin KVM, fancy as they want to make it
Nope, this is a docking station. A KVM allows you to switch your keyboard, video and mouse between computers... this doesn't :p.

So you can keep your monitor, speakers, microphone, internet, printer, mouse, keyboard, and any other USB devices all hooked into this box making it easy to switch between computers and take laptops here and there and back home.

:)

With everything running off of one usb port? It only has one usb in, which means the switching is done by you unplugging the cable from one pc, and plugging it into another.
