the whine of the 460

ok so as of yesterday i had issues like mad with my 460 first off its getting hotter than normal usualy auto fan keeps it at bay and it does not go over 70c (when folding for 12hrs)but now its hittin 76c.

now i no my OC is stable it never changed an nither has the volts (1.062) but yesterday i played BF and i was getting odd glitches and artifacts so i restarted and tried again but its the same thing i ran heaven and BOOM it froze and at the begining it was glitching,also i am now getting the dreaed whine it only makes it under load I.E folding it dont sound to clever what so ever and its realy annoying and putting me of folding as i dont wanna stress it.

is something goin is it time to RMA?

also the whine does seem to be getting louder
 
If you are getting artifacts and freezes just try and driver sweep just for when the RMA guys ask and you can say yes Ive done it. But it does sound fudged.
 
well i was using the BETA drivers,so i did a driver sweep and reinstall the 258 drivers,the whine is still there and when i fired up BF for the first time i got some artifacts and it froze when i re-started and took 1mhz of the core and mem then applyd then took them back up 1mhz.it seems to be ok,heaven ran fine and i can play BF with no artifacts.

is it still on its way out or

EDIT-might be some batch numbers as mine was probly the first
 
Do a full driver sweep. uninstal and restart, driver sweep and restart. install new drivers.

If its not doing it at a lower clock then thats ok its just at the cards limit at that voltage. the whine however is normal matey when spanking the poor GPU's bum.
 
i did the full driver sweep fella,i have lowerd the mem ro 2100 but i did that a few days ago it must of ben them BETA drivers?,if it happens again now i have a fresh install of the 258's its getting RMA'd.

cool beans aslong as nothing is dying a slow squeaky death lol
 
Whine? as in fan or capacitors?

If it's the caps then that's exactly what died on Stepy. It could be that being a cut down cheap card they cut some corners in the stiffening department.
 
well isent it the caps thats wine when under load like a resonence of coils,i dont no maaaaan its just f***in annoying,and i dont just want it to go BOOM

All cards whine when being folded on dude. Everey card Ive ever touched does it, just some are worse than others.
 
Wow. No wonder I've seen so many casualties from folding.

Still, very decent of people to risk their hardware for something as noble

i had that problem with my msi card it got a lot hotter and was makin a whining sound but my new cards dont do it at all, only card ive had do it was that

keep an eye for a few days mate let it fold away so its gettin stuck under pressure if nothing changes RMA time man

but your temps do seem really high, ive got 3 references and atm in a 25 degree room im gettin 60 > 57 > 50 all on 50% fan while folding and there all about about 10-15 less when gamin
 
there not the big fat ones there just normal 25mm thick ones thinkin about repplacing them with something a little bit less power hungry and run it through my fan controller
