The ultimate in cooling. Phils next massive project

This project is still very much under development and will be awesome once finished. As Geo states above I am taking my time with it - every detail has to be taken into account.

If you can imagine the Dream PC, times it by 5 and that's what this will end up like :D

@nick25

Specs are pretty much the same. Graphics has been upgraded to dual nvidia 7950GX2 though, just chosing the actual cards now. A lot of the final design should be done in the next week and 1/2 so I'll let everyone know the final spec after then.

No proper pictures yet, hopefully should have some design schematics or similar in a week or so. This is an old picture Phil made when we were discussing the design.

Whoa nobody told me I missed this while I was gone. :O - Glad it wasn't finished by Feb as planned. :p

This is seriously cool and I wish you the best of luck with it.

Bit late now but welcome to the forums too. ;)

Ok now we're getting close. Hopefully should be completed by end of August.

I'm looking into VFD/LCD displays for the system but I can't find one I really like. Does anyone know of a really good 5.25" bay display? Something like a matrix orbital or alphacool. Ideally I'd like one that takes up two bays like the alphacool.

Thanks for any advice.

Oh, proper design pictures are very close, just making the final drawings now.

Why?

I thought LCD was a lot more flexible; infact I can't think of any positives for the VFDs :$ Hence why LCD's are used as monitors/ screens.... :p

Brightness maybe?

viewing angle more than anything, but then again it all depends on what he wants to display, from the mediacentres ive built and used vfd is better but then again this aint no media centre :)

Lo mate, if you're good at modding stuff you could try your hand at this Play Station One 5" LCD mod, this will give you a colour screen which you can activate using dual desktop. You could also use a program called Samurize to make custom screens that will display anything you want. In my opinion this is much more powerful than any LCD/VFD screen you can buy.

You can find a guide for this at he Bit-tech forums here;

Nice one :D

Nah mate you're too kind, I just get inspired by things I see on the web. If you need any help just give me a shout.

Cool idea, cheers ZaX. It would look v good but I'm not an experienced modder so wouldn't be able to do it myself. It's a bit late to ask Phil to add something like that now. Maybe for the next system :-)

All I wanted to display was system temps, email notifications, game scores etc. A VFD should be fine. I just don't know who makes the best ones and I'm having problems finding a big dual bay version.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Thanks for the suggestion ZaX it looks well cool. I'm no modder though I'd have real problems fitting it myself and it's a bit late to add that to the design. It's also overkill for what I want. All I need to display is system temps, email notifications, game scores etc. A VFD display sounds right for me, I just don't know who makes the best ones and I'd really like a dual bay version but they seem to be thin on the ground. I'm v busy with work atm and haven't had much time for proper research.

Thanks for your replies guys.
