Its a long story.... But the basics are I sold my Scott Ransom Carbon Firbre bike in december to help things move with Time To Live and most importantly fund the Arora give a way case. That left me with no bike for the first time in years. After just getting over a monumental chest infection and many tests I was told that my lack of fitness was one of the main reasons I got so ill.

Enoughs enough, the sofa was turned out for change, all piggy banks were broken and Ive mortgaged one of my Kidneys with Natwest and finaly managed to find the money to get a new bike!

I had a ransom before, theres an extra lever on the bars so I can select 165mm travel - 85mm travel or full lock out. Pretty much means playbike/cross country/road or lazy mode

Me being me there will be a few changes over the next week or so, full strip down re-grease service, new brake pads and tyre's, new pedals, headset, bars and grips,

Over the summer it will get some new brakes, crank, chain guide, and a custom built wheelset by the boys at the local shop

Ill post back progress but today is officialy christmas for me

I bought it used boys, an ebay bargin. its a 2007 model. Will be a machine when shes all set up the way I like. Going to be hard getting fit again though.

Nice bike btw. reminds me of when i used to do 7 up downhill challenge when i was in the army. Used to have a Saracen killi flyer (when there were decent bikes).

You do mean the suspension don't ya? That's pretty handy.

Yes mate the rear suspension, can change the way the bike rides on the fly. Ill also have the same thing for my new front forks. Cant wait to get out and start getting fit!

I dont know much about bikes, but being able to change your suspension settings as you ride makes that a pretty sweet bike in my book hahaha

if you couldnt change the back fork suspension riding on the road is a nightmare imo, half the effort you would put in would just result the the suspension taking all the force and movin up and down,

Aye when I can ride all day again, going to take some time. Been at the bike shop today the 2 owners are drinking buddies so used their workshop and given the old girl its strip down regrease and service. All the niggly problems are now fixed. Its got new grips and pedals too.

Its amazing how frustrating it is that I cant ride like I used too, had a burn up on the way home, didnt last long My ass is killing me and boy are my legs going to hurt tomorrow if they hurt this much now!!

lockout needed...hee hee, got it on mah stinky....

Or just get fit and ride hard....( I miss my diamond back axis for the roads, i needs to go feef it backs.)

btw tom, knackered my headset yesterday and completely twisted mah chain, oh, lost my saddle before the road drop and my shoe when railing it on the gnarley left hander after the road drop before the cattle grid. Epic days riding fella, you missed alot. (btw, i was taking your advice and railing EVERYTHING!)

Kenny (the craziest uplift driver EVER) wanted to go home cos it was raining, but we wouldnt let him.

Moneys soon...new crank, new bars, rear mech, pedals, headset, brakes and disc pads to come...YOU KNOWS IT!! (oh, and a train ticket to southampton )

yeah also got lockout(poplock) on my tyax, does the trick nicely

The 66's that came with the bike are very DH/Freeride orientated forks, and I need forks with adjustment like my old ransom. Luckily my mate was selling some 6month old Marzocchi 55 TST2's, and these have an ajustable compression dial from full squidge through to lock out in 5 steps.

Its easily got to on top of the fork leg so I can change the way the bike rides as Im going along which is perfect

The magic dial, up is full squidge, right down is full lock out

I lock the front and back end out for bashing out the road miles, or annoying riders on road bikes muhuhuhhahahaha!

Other minor tweaks are Ive changes the tires for some Maxxis Advantage XC tires, these are a bit thinner than the ones that came with it, but most importantly much harder rubber compound so they roll much quicker on the road. A set of new grips and some sealed bearing pedals are the only other changes so far, but a single ring + chain guide are on the cards, new breaks and wheel set are on the 'wish list'!

The amount of potholes there, I'm not suprised you need a mountain bike for road biking.
