the only things demanding in kemps list are f@h (which only uses spare cycles neway) and photoshop when batching something really extreme, although i cant think of much to batch that your pc couldnt handle with ease.

my definition of hefty processes would be, a game, burning a dvd, encoding video/audio

Not just batching, take this

and use radial blur with 100, spin and best. Now that will keep your pc busy (for like 30 - 60 seconds).

However I have noticed a difference when I went from single core to dual core, especially coming out of a big game like Oblivion

Really? Ive gained a fair bit from my 3200 @ 2.7 too my e4300 @ 3.1. A hell of a lot of frames in CS and the overall ability to use even more programs at once.

That may have been an illusion after been stuck on a 3ghz celleron with 256mb for a month though i spose...
