Suggestions for DDR2

Hello people, seems a really long time since I posted a new thread on here :o

Anyway, I've just bought this mobo along with a Xeon 3110 (333fsb). So I'm looking for 4GB of RAM, either some 1066mhz or good 800mhz - looking to spend £40 - £50.

I did have a list, but due to me taking my time, some have gone out of stock or the price gone up. I'm looking at these though:

OCZ 1066mhz

Corsair XMS2 1066mhz

Kingston HyperX 1066mhz

I did fancy these OCZ REAPER 800MHZ, even though they're 800mhz, they did have tight timings and look cool, but they're not available now...

So these are the sorta thing I'm looking for. Which would you recommend?

Has anyone spotted any bargains that would suit me?

And because it's corsair, found their RMA department extremely friendly when I RMA'd prize won from a competition.

Corsairs typically overclock better, run cooler, have a million times better customer support (rma's, other issues) and are extremely knowlegable about what their chips can and cant do. Corsair also has a forum for support and overclocking advice etc

As far as ram goes, the only two brands i have ever and will ever go with are Crucial (Ballistix and their Tracers) and Corsair, imo the two best ram brands outthere ^^

I had a hideous experience with some Ballistix RAM. Just goes to show how quickly we can form opinions that are tough to change.

Cyrix could come out with a Octo-Core 5GHZ for £40 and I'd still blanch at buying one.

Up it to £60ish and you could get some tasty 1200Mhz OCZ stuff if you look hard enough, I plan on ditching my 1066 in favour of these since I just cant seem to get the most of an overclock due to RAM bottlenecks.

My current Ballistix tracers are ok, the lights can be annoying and boy they run HOT! Cant get them overclocked much though, if at all

Didn't think my board can take 1200. In the system specs it says this:

# Supports DDR2 1066MHz (O.C 1200MHz)

Does this mean I can put in 1066mhz and clock it up to 1200mhz? Or would it allow me to slot in a set of 1200mhz???

i was thinkin the same as i wanted some BLADES and mine just says native 1066Mhz but according to TTL they should work fine,i guess you would just underclock them

Alright Jiffz,

I've got some of this stuff I was going to slap in a massive for sale thread on here but figured, after reading this, to see if you're interested.

Of course if you are, I'll start a thread that obeys the forums rules :)

RAM is and I've had it since late February when it was new. It's covered by a lifetime warranty I believe:

Patriot 4GB PC2-8500 C5 Viper Extreme Performance (2x2GB)

Pretty sure it's still stuff but in Blue:

I've had more types of RAM over the past few years than I can remember.

Out of all the brands I've bought, I've found Corsair and GEIL to be the best. Might just have been luck with batches, but their reputations suggest otherwise.

Speaking of which...

Time for a GEIL thread! :p

Bungral - Would I have warranty on them with Patriot, if so how long?

All my options have just flown up, the OCZ went up from around £50 to £90 - Whats going on???

Has anyone spotted some good DDR2 deals recently - Linkys please?

OZC ram have gone up rappidly well infact all ddr2 ram has lol, peterstoba made a thread on it its not good ime after some new ram to and its getting difficult

I've been shopping around a few different component sites and it seems DDR2 has just flown up in the last week or 2. I'm guessing it's all gone up as people want it for Windows 7??

I've timed this pretty bad, wish I bought any of the tidy deals as soon as I spotted them now :(

Ha ha its exactly the same as me mate,i thought i woukld wait till they came DOWN in price as older tech does but nope its higher priced so its annoying best deal ive sen in on OCUK for some XMS2 infact its one of ur links £49.99 is probly the best ur gna get for that amount and speed even tho its timings arent that good.

Limited Lifetime Warranty as far as I'm aware.

Only problem is that I can't find the bloody pack they came in. Don't know if they would want it though.... It's possible they were one of those horrible sealed ones that you need to take a chainsaw too.

Reason I think that is because I keep EVERYTHING... I have every box here for pretty much everything I've bought due to the likelihood of me selling it.

I've still got it and it'll be in a big old for sale thread I make later on.
