So my first GPU has arrived ...

I used only 7 of 8 threads on a 2600k or 11/12 on an i7-970.In gpu tracker you can chose how many cores to enable.Did have some lockups before i did that, but i only had 2 gpu`s running at mobo.

Smp ppd drop was the same as with all cores/threads enabled+2gpu running.

still looks impressive

can't see as much dust now either

I'm thinking about a new GPU...... but don't know which way to turn.

A second 560Ti would mean I could use SLI, but I'm not the biggest fan of SLI, and at the prices of a 560 Ti a 570 doesn't seem all that far away. Or I could grab a 560 none Ti for a bit cheaper but that option seems totally pointless due to the Possibility of SLI with the Tis

hmmmmmmm

Oo don´t count me in for help
laugh.gif
as i am now thinking of a GTX580 rather then a GTX560

but i really want a second rig back and that will be another ball game (prices).....

I sold one of my nitro heli´s so i can spend some good money on hardware again....

so i am also hmmmmmmm blah etc LOL no user pun intended

Greetings Ray....

IMO, SLI has been worth it since Fermi. If you plan on using your rig for gaming at all, go with another GTX560Ti.

He´s going to be pissed hmmmmmmmblah

but we still love him

The rig should get used for gaming at some point, but the primary use is going to be folding for the second GPU.

The three reasonable options I have are 560 Ti (£160), 560 Ti 448 (£210) or 570 (£240).

The sensible option is probably the 560 Ti... what what part of chaseing PPD is sensible

The thing is I don't think the PPD gain from a 560 Ti to a 560 Ti 448 is worth £50... but is it.

I was really wanting to spend about £150 so the 560 Ti fits in right there, I just don't want to regret it in the long run.

I don't think the PPD gain is worth £50 either. The most sensible option is the Ti and you get the added bonus of the possibility of gaming with SLI. If all you care about is the higher PPD though, then go for the 570. I still think the Ti for £160 is the best option and can't see how you could regret that.

The 560 Ti is the best idea and I don't know why I'm trying to talk myself into spending more money.

Going to get the xw6400 up and running then will get a second 560 Ti on its way to me
biggrin.gif

Edit:

I have found a 560 Ti on ebay for £140 (Buy it now) with free postage. I have taken a punt even though it seems abit too good to be true.

Will find out in a couple of days I guess. It's suppose to be sent by Royal Mail Special so with any luck it will arive for/at the week end.

Just gotta figure out how to sneak this into the house :s

Just sent and got a reply from the seller so seems legit after all.

The card is an Inno3D 560 Ti. I thought it was just the bog standard version (and it still could be) but after speaking to the seller, it comes bundled with 3DMark 11 and Starcraft. Google tells me that only the OC and the iChill version come with this software.

This could be an even better deal than I first thought!

Welcome back, Mr Ray!!! It's good to see you getting back on the hardcore Folding!
