Project Steel within

Great metal work. Lovely colour's too although i'm not sure about the dirty yellow, I'm more into neat looking builds but we will see how it turns out.

The yellow paint is primer, im going over it with black when ive had a chance to flat it down. Dont worry I wouldnt leave it like that

Dude, how long did it take you to pepper drill the hole and file it all out? I could have sent you a hole-saw in the post lol. Fair play though man, it looks nice and tidy.

Next one im going to try and do rough with the jigsaw and file it to make it round. Cheers m8, it looks alright with the mesh in so im happy with it

I cant believe how expensive hole saws are though!

Right thought I should post something as its been over a month! So basically when my ex moved out im pretty sure she took my camera charger with her...so I have some photos on a camera that I cant turn on (it wont charge through usb) and nothing to take further pics with
sad.png
The mod isnt dead though, infact it is coming along nicely, there is paint and mountings for components and all manner of other exciting things appearing, im just struggling to share it with you guys

Hopefully I can borrow my parent's camera when I go to see them next weekend so hopefully I will have more to share soon.

Looking good on the metal, yellow will be a nice accent to the black.

Just a thought...this thing will be HEAVY.. you adding caster wheels to get it around or an electric motor with a steering wheel?

I will sort a camera as soon as possible, I want to document this
smile.png

Yes it will be incredibly heavy, it already is...I have not added wheels or anything but I have made it so that it can split into 3 sections. Each of those weighs in the region of 35 Kg empty so I can move them around fine like that but once assembled with parts and full of water, yeah its completely immobile. I would add casters but I dont want it to be lifted off the floor so I will just use a trolley to move the parts individually If I have to but I hope it will stay in one place for most of its life.

At that weight nobody will nick it if you take it to a lan.

This is very true, its a good thing I have access to a truck to take it there with

I just hope my floor is strong enough!

Came expecting chevrons Grand Warsmith, you clearly need more imperial slaves....

the construction appears to be progressing well.

Iron Within, Iron Without.

All in time brother, the markings of the legion will be displayed proudly as my grand designs near completion. The loyalists seek to delay my great works at every step but they cannot halt the architect of the Eternal Fortress!

Iron within, Iron without!

How far along is this build now? You have put a lot of effort into it, and you definately deserve the end product for all your blood sweat and tears.

At the moment one of the casings is completely painted and being polished up. The other has been primed and needs flatting before colour.

The housings only need the odd few bits done to them like cable routing holes. I was waiting until my mobo arrived to cut them out so I could put them in the right place but it got delayed about a week due to stock shortages so I am still waiting on that. Really it shouldn't be masses of work from now on. I have to make the top still but that is just a case of routing some MDF and painting it. Got to do all the W/C stuff but that should be fine. Then just need to throw the windows in and put a few finishing touches. Will still probably take me a while but its getting there. I have been wondering about using copper tubing rather than plastic to fit in with the build better, which has held me back from ordering too much W/C stuff as im trying to figure out how I would connect the pipework to the waterblocks etc safely.

So yeah it is coming along, a bit chaotic but im enjoying the process, its probably a good thing I dont have a sponsor, they probably would be happy with the lack of posts and the speed of the build

Thanks for taking an interest
