Scotland Votes NO to Independence

My english teacher is Scottish and has been with the "Yes" side since ever. She must have been shattered when she heard the result

Been watching it all unfold, gonna keep my preference out of it as it will just lead to more arguments but the conduct in the last 24 hours from BOTH sides has been disgusting and ashamed to call myself Scottish.

The Yes side, going by the social media side of things, have been so ungracious in defeat and basically calling everything a fix, screaming at proud Scots who voted No calling them traitors and cowards.

The No side haven't been much better, gloating at it and trying to get a rise out of the losers. The scenes in George Square even now are deplorable and are casting a dark shadow on the day before where Scotland stood united with one purpose - to move for their future.

Both sides have a common goal - the betterment of their home country, so to see all this division is heart breaking. Going back home in 3 days, kinda scared of what I'll find

Spidey rant end

well said mate, i've seen friends turn on friends over this yes and no vote. the only this that has done from what i can see is divide the country.

i'm from london and love my mates from up north we have never had any problems talking about the vote, but now a few have just turned on us....

as i said to my mates, you do what you think is best for you and your land, we'll all still be good friends...

Not a good advert for democracy, 'there can be no reruns' despite repeated examples of corruption and vote tampering; one of them so blatant it was visible on sky tv.

just was this and wonder what you guys think?

real or fake??!!

Wouldn't surprise me to be honest, All other things aside and thinking about it logically the english would lose hundreds of millions each year ergo tactics like this are employed.

1 detail many seem to overlook is the fact that the UK is not a democracy, It is a Monarchy, You cannot have a democracy when you have a royal family with governmental powers, england has no constitution and no bill of rights, People in the UK are subjects not citizens ergo, Not a democratic country.

As a yes voter I thought we get a yes than the rest of the uk would wake up and tell Westminster enough is enough ...307 years and its a failure.

Now what the news hasn't told you.
2 year ago a a yes voter in his 80s was attacked and had his arm broken.

than the usual b*tchy match between the 2

now in Glasgow no voters are doing Nazis salutes (not orange walk salutes) 2 men yes supporters have been violently attacked
another yes voter stabbed
2 women yes supporters have had verbal abuse as well as flags ripped out there hands and a Scottish flag burned and now reports of Asian people being abused being told to go back to there country.

Now I say this isnt every no voter just a few idiots,

there is also evidence of the votes being tampered with, also folk going to vote and being told they cant as some one has already voted for them...a lot of folk did not get there postal vote and when they contacted the voting office they where told it was to late and there vote would be counted as a no vote.

At the end of the day no matter the outcome we should have got along and made the uk/independent Scotland a better place.

I am not anti English or anti union I only wanted the best for Scotland..I never voted for snp actually this is the first time Iv voted..I am disgusted to call my self Scottish after the violence.

As for Westminster and extra powers we all know it will never happen.

If any one doughts the stuff I have mentioned you should be able to find vids of the voilence very easily on facebook

Update: No voters have tried to set fire to the Herald building the only newspaper to support the yes cause

I hate pretty much all politics, and believe pretty much all politicians are liars so I am probably out of my depth here but I think every country has the right to vote on independance but without outside interference from people trying to sway votes etc.

If the Scottish want to vote, the Scottish should decide themselves. I am English and I couldn't care less if Scotland was independant or not, it really has nothing to do with me as I am not Scottish myself.

After living in the Basque Country for the last 7 years, a country that also wants independance but is denied a referendum, I have a first hand experience of the belief and the feelings of the people born here who want independance, here the Basque Country doesn't feel like Spain, it seems completely different than Spain so I understand why the Scottish would vote for independance (obviously not fully as I am not from there) but it worries me that this referendum could seperate people more inside of Scotland, whether the yes or no vote won.

And as we saw from last night, minorities causing trouble even though their vote won.
