Rescue 1

You can always slice the tape down the middle if its too wide, so long as your base coat beneath is set for the allotted 24 hrs it should not peel. ;)

True true. And yea I actually forgot how low tack electrical tape really is

Aye its more a gum than an adhesive and like frog tape its a uniform bond to the surface, masking is one job I aways despised when I did painting & decorating at college but soon learned that preparation is the most vital part of any job, nearly as important as using a good quality primer before painting. It means the difference between a good finish and an epic finish. If your still unsure try out different techniques on a piece of scrap. We have 5 weeks left so take your time, I know I've said it before sorry.

No sweat dude! I appreciate all the help. Prep is definitely time consuming. I spent all day today masking. Mostly because 1/16" off on my line really bugged me and for some reason measuring didn't help so I had to eyeball it and adjust until the stripes were the same distance apart all the way down.

I've yet to fix my mistake on the front and side panels. They're sanded and resprayed white but it turned out like crap. Going to resand and respray again, but I'm going to try a little finer paper and finish it with a wet sand before repainting.

When masking you need to use something that isn't porous and completely seals the surface so that no paint can get in, nor have a fuzzy edge like most masking tape. Vinyl is fantastic for this.. Electrical tape? well that's pretty much just vinyl tape.

A little update:

I haven't been idle, I've been working away at sanding the front and side panels down. I used too coarse of a paper when I sanded the blue off. Didn't notice until I resprayed the white. No big deal, now I'm sanding the white down with progressively finer papers until the marks disappear. I'm waiting on materials for the psu shroud to get here and debating adding a couple more LEDs to the front for accent lighting as I feel 4 may not be enough. I've been practicing bending the sheets for the SSD mount and think I have my technique down, hoping to produce a final piece here soon. I've been sleeving the misc cables such as led tails and front panel cables so they all look good where they're seen. Going to order more sleeving and heat shrink as I vastly underestimated the amount needed to do the fan leads.

Alright, so I scratched sleeving the fan cables. You can't/won't see them thanks to the many methods of cable management available in this case.

I did however decide to paint the I/O plates on my graphics cards to match the blue I've put all over the case. They don't look mint just sitting here, but wait until they get installed against the white.

I also spent hours sanding today. Finer grit sand paper was the key. Hoping to reshoot the white for the last time tomorrow.

UPDATE 11/8/15
Ok so I forgot to snap some in progress shots while I was working because I did this at work, but, I took apart and paint led my old H60 to match the rest of my build.

Nice job on the cooler!

Thanks man! She's a bit dusty still but my canned air keeps freezing up. Going to clean it good, before she gets installed.

On a side note, I'm beginning to install hardware, just waiting on the new ram kit to get here along with the acrylic sheet for the psu shroud.

Canned air is a pain. Buy yourself a cheap electric air bed pump with multi adapted. Using the smallest sized head provides a good strength constant air flow. Best thing I ever did for removing dust!

UPDATE

Well I've made a bit of progress this weekend. Started fitting components for the final fit.

And finally reshot the blue stripes. Made a couple changes to the layout of the stripe which seemed to help.

Coming along nicely. I really like the blue hard drive trays showing through from the motherboard side. A nice touch.

Thanks man. I painted them merely because i would know they weren't right. Lol I didn't even notice they showed through until I installed them after paint.

UPDATE:

The new RAM kit showed up. This kit is really going to match the system better than the old red kit. Had to sell some of my old parts to fund it but it was worth it.

Also powered the system up to make sure I didn't kill any components during the tear down and modding of the GPUs and CPU cooler. Also wanted to make sure the power supply, fans, and ram weren't DOA. I must say, I am very pleased overall with how it's turned out.

I am still waiting on the acrylic for the PSU shroud to arrive, Hopefully sometime this week. Then I can bend it, cut some slots for cable routing holes, and mount the SSD mount in place. I had to ditch the bent SSD mount due to clearance issues so I've opt'd for a bolted through style mount that will mount to the top of the PSU shroud, near the front of the case.

UPDATE:

The acrylic sheet finally came in for the PSU shroud.

Got to work cutting the contour and shaping the cable loops.

Then I began heating the sheet to bend it.

I haven't snapped any shots of the bent shroud. The first bend went smoothly, this bend being the stability bend. The second bend however didn't turn out as good as the first. This bend being the bend that wraps the PSU. I'm guessing that I didn't heat the bottom up well enough as the bend wasn't as tight, causing my measurements to be off. Fortunately when I made my marks, I was cognitive of potential differences and compensated likewise. No big deal, currently it is too deep to fit in the case so I will spend the next bit filing down the edge about 1/2" to shorten it so it will fit. I will then have to reshape the cut so it follows the bend in the motherboard tray, and reshape the cable loops. Nothing a little time won't fix.

Next on the list once the shroud is shaped and fits properly, I will mock up the placement of the SSD mount, which has changed from the original plan. Then it will be time to drill the holes, mount, run the LED and run the cables. I also need to figure out a good method to adhere the LED strips to the case. The adhesive doesn't seem to want to stick after they have been on for any length of time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A quick check in.

I believe I am finished with the build, less some piddly little things as I find them. I have shot the pics and am currently sorting through them to find the ones I want to use. Then I will get them posted here. may have to shoot a few of them again. The blue accent LEDs give a purple hue to the pictures for some reason, making the white lighting look off. Also, the shutter speed on my camera is way slow, and since I haven't touched it in over a year, I cannot remember for the life of me how to fix that.

Alright guy, so here it is. I'm not toally pleased with the way these turned out, but I'm going to play with my camera a bit and try to fix the hue.

 I do like that fella! It's turned out really really great. Kudos to you.

Thanks man! I certainly had some WTF am I not doing right moments, but it was worth it in the end.

I'm liking what I'm seeing with yours as well.
