Yep - Plextools is a powerful utility that opens up all sorts of additional capabilities not accessible through the OS. I also updated the firmware with a multi-region hack.
Yeah it's sound proofed already (well the sides are), not fantastic quality stuff (akasa), but that with the watercooling it helps a wee bit.
The plextors come highly recommended it seems - i'm shaping up for one of those at the moment, strangely there doesn't seem to be many solid reviews floating around on them though. Other than "It burnzed by ripz in like 10 secunds, straight out man. I love dis' drive." - esque reviews:yumyum: .
NEC 3550 ...mine are silent, they whirr for a couple of seconds when a disk goes in, but then, silence, if watching a dvd or somthing, they only make any noise if really stressed...
