Question/Help: X58 - 990X + Dominator Platinums 2133 +

Hi guys, i decided to but a set of 16GB Dominator Platinum 2400 to replace my Dominator GT 2000.

My question, is that i run a G1 Assassin board that says it supports up to 2200 memory speeds + my CPU OC'd to 4.65Ghz, i thought of the 2400 as an investment that i could carry over to X79, because i know one day i'll convince myself that i need to have that X79 chipset :)

Should i swap my purchase over for a set of the same ram but in 2133?
Or should i try and get the 2200 supported speed out of the 2400s that haven't been posted yet to me.

I know i won't see real world gains here, i have got myself in a benching crazy lately and just want to squeeze all i can out of my system :)

well others and Tom have interjected that the high speed memory
on 2011 can only really rely on how good the chip (internal memory
controller) can be. so @ 2400, you prolly wont have that goldenhip.. ven at 2133, its hard to get a proper tweak... 2000 is a
better chance and 1866/1600 is a no issue bet.

are they 1.5v or 1.65v?

if the gambler in ya is 60%+ use 'em.. if you are an even money
guy.. trade 'em.
if you cant make a winning bet.. bounce 'em for 2133...

i know there is a price difference so is there a restock fee? what %?
even for lower speed?

Nah no restocking fee, it's paid for but the 2400 kit comes into stock on tuesday, where as the 2133 kit comes into stock on monday. I save 90 dollars by changing my order to the 2133 kit, plus i get it earlier.

What i've seen is this.

My current kit is Dominator GT (running at 2000 9-10-9-27) 1.65V
Dominator Platinum 2133 16GB (9-9-9-24 1.5V)
Dominator Platinum 2400 16GB (9-11-11-31 1.65V)_

So the 2133 kit has better timings and lower voltage than my GT does at its 2000 speed and i save money, i think that might be my answer there :)

A: you wont get a 990x to run 2200 without some serious over volting so .... dont.

B: 2400 wont run on a 2011 CPU, Ive not found a CPU yet that will go that high. So Id save your money and get 2133 and then just run the ram @ 2000 on your 990X (200BCLK tie in)

Thanks Tom, just the clarification i needed.

I have changed my order to the 2133 set so should get them in a couple days time :)

Looking at your CPUZ mate you have some work to do.

Go for 200 BCLK (ram will run at 2000 if you get things set up and ballenced right)

You can then go 200 x 20 for 4.0ghz x21 for 4.2 or 22 for 4.4 (you may even get 4.6) just make sure your cooling is up to it :)

I have played around a little bit with the OC since my last validation,

Currently the OC is on 4.64Ghz with HT on, the CPU does get a bit toasty but the highest temp i've seen was 73 under prime with my NZXT Havik 140. I'm a bit of a baby i want to go for a better form of cooling but i'm scared of water, so i think i will wait and see how the latest version of the H100 goes when its released.

Heres my latest validation
