I'll be updating my CPU next month all being well and one thing i kinda knew about is as soon as i switched to that new CPU windows would go crazy and say lets go windows 11 now right now letsa gooooo, well no i don't want it at all for lots of reasons myself.
So here is a fix for others in the same boat as me going from 1st gen ryzen to 5k series.
OR
Anyone that simly doesnt want it and is getting harassed about it, simple guide and will save me a bunch of issues when switching CPU's over 21H2 is the latest feature build.
If you have Windows Pro:
How to Block Windows 11 with Group Policy Editor:
Open the Start Menu.
Type gpedit.msc and load the Group Policy Editor.
Go to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Windows Update for Business.
Double-click on “Select the target feature update version”.
Set the policy to Enabled.
Type 21H1 into the field.
Close the Group Policy Editor.
If you have Windows Home:
How to Block Windows 11 with Registry Editor:
Open the Start Menu.
Type regedit.exe and Run the Registry Editor.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate.
Set the Dword TargetReleaseVersion to 1. If the value does not exist, right-click on Windows Update, and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value.
Set the value of TargetReleaseVersionInfo to 21H1. If the value does not exist, right-click on Windows Update, and select New > String Value.
Restart the PC.
This will prevent windows from upgrading to another major version Without disabling any other updates.
Once Windows 10 21H2 appears on Microsoft’s website, you can switch over to it instead.
Windows 10 is supported until 2025 so i'm not switching until that time myself but it was a handy find for me in a bit of digging so felt the need to share it, thou maybe you all knew already
