pump noise

hi I think my pump is making some strange noises when I first turn on my c there is a noise that's a little like an aggressive hum/grinding noise. but then after 10 or so minutes normally much less it goes away and never some back till I turn the pc ff then back on?

is there cause for concern? havnt really the money to go replacing any more components.

I would not be untill it does it all the time.

Don't forget. When things like pumps start they can take a bit of time to get a rhythm together when they pump.

the pump is making the noise much more now and louder and its last longer but most of the time it settles down though, it just worries me that it could go can pc could over heat.

Is it a Laing DDC? I had one that made exactly the same noises, sort of a grinding screaming sound which I left for a while. Then one morning a week later I got a text from my girlfriend to tell me that the server is down (the pump was in this). Pump appeared undamaged, but refused to turn on/ would power down after a few seconds. Turned out my CPU had hit 102C before the PC cut the power.

Moral of the story, start saving those pennies for a new pump IMO.

similar thing happened to me except i was in the house but in another room, i come into the room to find the pc alarm (detects pump speed) went of and my cpu is idling at 96C (pc did not shut off:/ i wish i knew how to make it shut off) im just glad i wasnt folding at the time or doing anything stressful on the PC.

my DDC died that day, i went and bought a D5 instead.....

hmm what you guys think of this res/pump combo

http://specialtech.c...-pid-14806.html

Would a:

360 rad

120 rad

cpu block

gpu block

be too much for the xspc pump i got the one that comes with the rasa 360 kit, also how would the above pump from special tech cope with my loop.

it also didnt make the noise at all today, very strange.

I think that setup would be to much for the XSPC H2O 750 I base this on the fact i am running it now (just kit) and I have to touch the pump/rez to make sure its running as i cant tell by flow. Adding another block and rad would slow the flow even more.

The pump and rez you link should be fine mate. I'm going to be using the same one with a diff rez for my upcoming upgrade by adding a 120mm rad and gpu wb as well.

K I'll have to upgrade not good don't really have the money at this moment in time, hope it holds out till end of the month, any other bay res/pump combos that are good?

what about this is it better and does the pump go inside the res? http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cus...DDC-Ultra-18W-Pump-Bundle-Deal-pid-11202.html

its strange that if i turn the pc off then turn it back on the pump makes the noise, but if i turn off and leave over night the pump doesnt make the noise when i turn it on in the mourning but makes it when i turn it off and on again WTF?

It may be something to do with the bearing which settles overnight, but when it warms up something expands or the oil gets too hot.

either should fit the same its the way they are designed. I think the second one would give you more volume as the pump mounts under it. the first one you linked has the D5 inside half of it so only half the fluid volume. I looked at that one and the only reason i went with my monsoon is the fluid volume plus the ability to use it as a dual loop with one pump and rez.

hmm how much would the amount of water affect temps?

think ill go with http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cus...DDC-Ultra-18W-Pump-Bundle-Deal-pid-11202.html is the pump attaches to the res. is it flush with the bottom of the res?

hos much noise do those pumps make?

edit: is this the one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bsne4PBTQY Do you really have to void the warranty to assemble it?

and which one would be best for my loops as one pump is 1500lph and the other 600lph but that one has 4.7m head whilst the other 3.7m head.

1. You do not void the waranty when you disassemble the pump or res

2. I had the (Laing DDC 18w) model which is the one with 4.7m head and 600lph the pump it self is the best but I find it unreliable ( it died)

3. I also have the 1500lph pump its speed can be controlled (if you get the vario model) and it is still nearly as good as the other and is more reliable.

Hope that helps

the liang pump was too loud for me so i just returned my old xspc res/pump and got it replaced the strange thing is this new one does the exact same thing just not quite as loud with the grinding noise, could it be the pump is underpowered and is making it make this noise?

its stange how it only makes this noise after you turn it off and straight back on again not when you first turn it on.
