Project Temporary.

from the looks out my window there should be sun around the uk this thisafternoon, bit overcast atm in all directions (im slap bang in the middle of the uk)

EDIT: and piccys would be great =P

I never said it was exactly the same case Tom... Let the cat out the bag now ay!

Yeah I'll get something sorted at some point soon now the weather has improved.

It's been glorius baking hot sunshine in South West London all day. Quite depressing really sitting at work.

That case looks amazing, after seeing the potential from this and other build logs I'm really considering it. This looks like it will be a brillinat build, you have a very nice mobo too!

:)

I'll try and get a lil bit more done either Sunday or Monday night. It's gonna be a bit at a time though as I haven't got loadsa spare time at the minute and I've got a month or so to do it all.

Tis a nice colour though :D

Will be nice to see one of my Kameleon cases actualy built after never seeing the compo case again :(

Ok folks, so minor update time.

First and foremost I have to say a massive thanks to an :worship:unnamed hero:worship: for sorting the following two items out for me. The mobo was missing these when I bought it, which I knew about, but figured I'd try to get replacements, and he really came through. Also a big thanks to Asus for being rather helpful and extremely quick! :worship::worship:

As I had a lil spare time to kill before bed, I thought I'd get the HR-09's on the MOSFET's as they've just been sitting there since I bought them.

All went pretty smoothly apart from mixing them up and not remembering which one the Type S and which was the Type U. Oh yeah and sticking the wrong side of a pad to the bloody heatsink.. Soon realised the error and sorted that though. *slaps head*.

I've got to say that I'm quite impressed with the mounting mechanism on these heatsinks. Granted it's very simple but it's extremely well done. It's easy to get everything to line up, as the clips is highly adjustable and they have a lot of give when lining up the push pins to the motherboard holes.

Anyway here are some piccies... Not very interesting mind but pictures none the less. Quality sucks a bit too as I was desperately trying to stop my nose from gushing everywhere and also trying to stop sneezing. Tonight is killer for some reason on the gayfever front!

I think next up may well be spraying a couple of Sata DVD drives.

Ok so it's been a little while since the last update and that's because I was basically waiting for my girlfriends family to go to the States so I could order some high speed Panaflo fans which you can't seem to get over here very easily.

I was very tempted by the medium power ones, but for the way I'm going to use them, it didn't make sense.

Also bought some medium power Yate Loons which I couldn't find readily available over here either and an XSPC Delta V3 with smaller mounting plate (775 & 1366) as it worked out to something like £30 from America-Land.

Firstly the specs of the fans and then the thinking behind the purchases followed by some piccars:

Specifications: Panaflo H1 High Performance 120 x 38mm

* Fan Size 120x120x38mm

* Input power 5.52 Watts

* Rated Voltage 12 V

* Hydrowave Bearings

* Air Flow 103.8 CFM

* Rated Speed 2850 RPM

* Noise 41.5 dB(A)

Specifications: Yate Loon 120mm Medium Speed Silent Case Fan

* Model: D12SM-12

* Air Flow: 70.5 CFM

* Fan Speed: 1650 RPM

* Noise Level: 33 dBA

* Current: 0.30 Amps

* Fan Size: 120x120x25 MM

* Connector: Includes a 3-pin motherboard power / RPM connector and a 4-pin standard power connector

I'm going to have the 3 Pana's bolted to the botom of a new Thermochill (15mm spacings) PA120.3 in the roof of the ATCS blowing hurricanes straight out when I'm benching / gaming but at night turning them off via fan controller. On the top of the rad bolted directly to the mounts on the roof, I'll have the 3 Yates which will be used for at night or when I just want things to be a little quieter.

The only snag I may come in to is the width of it all.. I'm not 100% convinced the 38mm Pana's plus the 25mm Yates plus the rad thickness wont overhang the mobo tray.

This is pretty much it just for the time being as I can't buy anything else until I get the fraud sorted out on my current account. Debit card cancellation = me poor until I get my new one.. That and the fact it was cleaned out doesn't help either.

Piccar time! Excuse the mish mash quality.. Batteries died as I was taking them so didn't get the chance to get good-uns.

About time that case saw some hardware :p

It really really is mate... Think I've got a few more bits I need to do before it happens though...

Need to spray the DVD drives and ummm get the rad and new res. Also need to decide on either normal barbs or compression fittings.. Might just use compression on the rad.

Also need to decide on tubing... As this is only going to be in use for 6 - 10 months, I might let the girlfriend choose the colour. Think she wants me to get bluey green UV tubing..

Comps are too big imho, dont forget if you have any small bits you need black just send them down dude, Ill chuck it in with other stuff and do it for nowt for you.

Ya mean subscription emails? Well I'll try to not leave it as long next time for updates :)

awaiting my e mail to see more updates on this thread :) ...

Yeah think I'll see how much access I have to the normal barbs with the rad in the roof before I make any decisions.

Ta muchly for the lil bits offer.. If I think of anything I'll be sure to let you know :) :worship:

Been half tempted to get the case of my PSU powdercoated as it's got a big scratch right down one side of it and is dark grey which isn't particularly lovely. That would void the hell out of the 5 year warranty though.. That said I got it reasonably cheap so do I really care? Hmmmmm.

Think I'm gonna cry.

Cracked out the case to see if the push / pull idea would work, but it seems like it just wont fit. I don't think a push / pull would fit even with normal 25mm fans on both sides.

Other than that, I also cracked out the fan controller I got with the case which is on the first page to see how it dealt with the medium speed Yates and also the beastly Panaflo fans.

It worked fine with the Yates but when it was taking the Panas down to low voltages it made them whine. So the air flow was quiet but there was a buzz.

I figured I'd try both fans on my Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus thinking it would be the same, but it wasn't. The Zalman tamed the Panas amazingly!! It doesn't stop them like the Lamptron, but at the lowest speed they are silent and still pushing some air with no buzz or whine. The Yates were just the same.

Only downer appears to be that at the very top end, the Zalman doesn't quite give it as much juice but for the smoothness and quality of the power going to the fans, it's worth the trade off.

The really sad bit is that I don't have face plate for the Zalman that is painted the same as the case. Hmmmmmm.
