Don't buy a dremel, buy real tools.

Cummon... They are handy for lil bits... cutting bolts and such.

Used mine to cut an HR-05 out of my comp so I didn't have to drain my loop and take the mobo out... Definitely wouldn't have got my angle grinder in there.

So you now have a case containing (prob) steel dust?

They have their uses, yeah. But they don't do anything that you can't with a bit of elbow grease and some hand tools. Maybe I just do everything the hard way...

Yea!... i reserved a dremel on the net for "chavgos" and i went their gave them my "unique Number" and they said they didnt have any in stock, i went halford and saw the one i think its like 24.99, was tempted to buy it! but wasnt sure, and B&Q got 15% off this weekend if you spend £50 or more :D so might buy a proper dremel from them

EDIT: what did you use your Dremel on and is it worth buying one?

I used mine to cut out the front and the roof of my case for my rads, and yes it is worth buying one for doing things like that, unless you are really good with a jigsaw

ok guys sorry this thread kind of died out for a while

i been working hard on my case, ive cut out the rear panel and started on the mobo tray also found a home for everything.

i will do a full update hopefully tomorow evening, ive just been really busy.

Also just wondering what am i doing wrong with my DREMEL ARRR

75% of my cutting disks end up breaking and flying everywhere before i've acctually used them properly. it will cut for like 5 secs then will just disintegrate (bad spelling i guess lol)

Ive tryied turnin the power up and down, pushing Hard and soft, different angles lol, comon ladies and gents whats the proper way of using a dremel :P

Are they good quality discs?? No point if having the tool without decent accessories.

Im using a pack of 36 dremel cutting disks so they must be pretty good as they are made by dremel.

maybe i got a faulty batch?

Maybe... They got diamond in them?

Can buy good quality ones fairly cheap if they don't. Worth doing.

Day 3,4,5,6 The longest Mile

I’m sorry for the size of the images, I forgot to resize them before updating i will get more up tomorrow as I forgot to take a few

As you can see after 100 screws I was able to take the two parts of the apple Mac case apart This took me a whole day to do!

26072008493.jpg

This allowed me to place a PSU in to the case to test for size etc

I then went down to my local computer shop and was fortunate enough to leave with a computer case for free

So thanks to guys at "PC SHOP" in Barnet North London :p

I then took the case apart as I needed the rear panel and motherboard tray

01082008522.jpg

I basically ripped my thumb to shreds taking this case apart; this picture was taken a couple of hours after as again I forgot lol (its tuff modding and taking pictures at the same time when you’re on your own)

01082008524.jpg

But got in to a little bit of trouble as the Mobo tray and rear panel are attached on to a metal that hooks in to it. You can see that along the bottom of the case there is metal that is slightly rounded this holds the tray in place and had to be removed (hard to explain lol and wish I got a picture of it)

01082008526.jpg

I was then left with this after removing rivets that connect the tray and the rear panel

01082008528.jpg

I set out cutting the psu part as this is not needed.

Annoyingly enough the mobo tray does not support ATX mobos :( which is weird, Most of the mounting holes are off, so I had to head up to the attic and find one

After a little tidying it up and trying to make my way through all the cardboard boxes lol I found this

03082008546.jpg

:D

The tray was bent and wasn’t flat so I wrapped an old t-shirt around a hammer to cushion it, as I tried to flatten it without causing any dents

After 2 hours of hitting at the tray it was finally flat, I couldn’t get a good picture of it bent so I won’t bother posting one.

I placed the tray in to the case and found that I had to cut it down to fit

03082008549.jpg

Took a 5 minute break with my lovely energy drink :D

26072008499.jpg

And started sanding it down to smooth and hammered the sides in to tidy it up

04082008554.jpg

03082008550.jpg

I began cutting the rear panel

02082008537.jpg

It was alot easier then I expected

I think it looks like it fits in let me know what you think it was hard to get a good picture

It was all cut using a Dremel :D

Plans for the next couple of days

I have decided on the final colour scheme for the case it will be BLACK and Lime/Avocado Green

So let me know what you think guys/girls

I was hoping that a mod could please clean the forum abit and cut the number of pages down just as i think alot of it is unnecessary

Thanks
