Project: MATX Water Cooling

Yeah, that finish looks excellent SEBAR, awesome job :)
Thanks man, the only thing I am worried about now is getting the same results on an uneven surface. I will paint the front bezel of the Dragon Slayer case and there are a lot of right angles and tight areas. The main structure of the case is being powder coated gloss black.

Update: Bad news, I took the case back from the powder shop. After 5 days of getting the same excuse of why it is not done I got fed up and took it from them. When I got the case the windowed side panel was attached to the case and would not come off. The guy at the shop told me that they did not know that the side panel was supposed to come off. They had to pry the panel off and damaged one of the tabs. I has able to bend it back into place. I need to clean the case up a bit and make sure the side panel will still go on and off okay. Can you believe that they were going to powder coat the case with the side panel attached. I am glad I took the case from those guys before they screwed it up beyond repair. Needless to say I will not be going back. I have attached some pics of the case. Now I have to decide what to do with it now. Take it to a different shop or just paint it myself.

That's savage! :o Hope you manage to salvage this build!

Hope you can Salvage it Mate

Thanks guys, I took it to a different shop to see if they can get me fixed up. It will cost me more then I was hopping for but they will be able to get me going and It will be done and ready for pickup tomorrow. I decided to go with a different finish then a gloss black, I decided to go with a black and silver vein. Let me know what you guys think of this finish.

Good luck! I can't believe what the first place did to it! The paint looks interesting , not sure what it will look like on the case, though. But after seeing the amazing silver chips in the finish of the enermax platimax psu, i am interested in seeing different paint finishes.

Thanks, I was a little skeptical on how it would look on the case but it has got to be better then they way it was before. I will have to change up the plan for the front panel a little but that is not to big of a deal. Perhaps the gloss black was a bit to boring in the first place.

Good Luck with the Second Paintshop!

P.S I really like that Paint!
Thanks man, unfortunately I decided that the black and silver vein would be to hard to match so I changed back to black. :o I sure hope this comes out looking okay. :headscratch: :headscratch:

Update. I got the case mods done for the time being. I was unable to get the extra drive by covers so I could not get the front panel done the way I wanted. I settled for a more stock look for now.

I have also gor the hardware test fitted to be sure everything fits. It was a tight fit but I did get everything in.

Looks Sweet! Can't wait for MOARRR

really nice looking rig mate :)
waiting for more updates

Thanks guys, I was planning an having this thing up and running by now but I had a little problem yesterday. I am not sure on the extent of the damage yet but am crossing my fingures that everything is okay.

I was getting everything together for final assemble and had my hardware strewn about inside of my garage. Everything was within easy reach except for the GPU. I took apart the CPU block for cleaning and reinstalled it witht the logos right side up. So far so good. :) Next up was time to install the rads. Top rad went in with no problems, but in order to install the front fad I had to remove the front bezel, 5 seconds and it is off. I set the front bezel on some foam tiles that I had propped up against a case box. I whent back to my work area and started installing the frond rad when I hear a crash, :o the extra weight of the front panel had casued the box that the foam mats where resting against to tip. This is the box that I had layed my GPU on. :( My GTX 670 with water block attached crashed to the hard concrete and iron dumbells that where laying on the floor. :dammit:My heart skipped a beat when I saw the GPU on the ground. I quickly picked it up and inspected it for damage. I could not find any visible damage to the card, the fittings or the waterblock. I will have to wait and see if the card still works when I get everything installed and leak tested.

i can rate the g-force of a GPU (w/waterblock) to be quite large. they do bounce
if they land just right (experience). if landed flat on the PCB 80% chance of no fail
(if you had a backplate on it). edge impact can be pretty bad.
id power it up no liquid for a POST check, verify operation and power-down and
proceed with install. depending on how gutsy you are.. even a under 60sec OS
boot.
total suckage on that SEBAR....

The way that is was sitting on the box and the position it was laying when I picked it up I would guess that it landed on the fittings and top edge whete the PCI bracket is and then came to a rest on the face of the waterblock. I may have to take the waterblock off and reinstall thestock cooler to test it. :(

why go through all that and dry fire it.. its not like you are running hours, just
seconds. if itll post, you got a durable card. so the CPU will have to get a cooler
yadda, yadda... put some electrons to use.. if no post happens, now get the
coolers out..
