Project: MATX Water Cooling

is it quieter? figuring two less fan..
and this is still on the overclock as well?

airdeano
It is much quieter now. I had to take the overclock down to the standard boost level, 3.8GHz. I just checked the temps and they are as follows:
Ambient 24
Max CPU Temps: 58, 61, 60, 60
Max GPU Temp: 76
This is after running F@H SMP and GPU for the last few hours.

I know the temps are not great but the GPU is still cooler then on air. I was constantly at 80-83c on air and the card was loud.

I will probably try to add the EX240 in the loop and an external mounted rad to get the temps down a bit. Not sure if I really want to do that yet because it would require me drilling holes in the case.

tbh.. i dont see it really making the temps that much betterer by leaps and
bounds. deffo louder.
so on stock clock you have 63.75 avg core temp and 38.75 delta. i think that
GPU has got to be one hot SOB. or those fans aint fannin' id figure you'd be at
low low-50° for stock.

So, you dont think adding in an ex240 would be worth the trouble of draining the loop, removing most of the components, drilling two 3/4 inch holes in the back and then putting everything back together?

I made an error in the temps and hae updated them. the average CPU Temp is 59.75 with a delta of 35.75c. This is not stock clocks, this is boost clock. 3.8GHz. I am sure if I brought it down to 3.4GHz the temps would be a few degrees lower. my GTX670 is a hot card. As I said. I was constantly at 80-83c on air.

your vcore cant be all that much hotter over the 3.4 clock. you are at least 6°-10°
warmer than you should be... granted your GPU and CPU on a 240 is a stretch
to begin with, but still...

if i were to "re-evaluate" id remove GPU block (in case) remove GPU, re-air cool it
and retest. you arent blasting over 125w on CPU heat. nope, not gunna believe
it.. or got some screamer fans? verify the cooling effect.. easier than first idea..

I tested the loop with the RX240 cooling CPU only prior to adding the GPU. I had an average of 47.5 and a delta of 24.5. I may remove the GPU block to be sure it is making good contact. These fans are not the best but they are far from the worst.

well they arent blowin' (see how i did that pressure differential thing).
id say get some BGears @ $10 with 3.0 static and evacuate the room..

Update. Well I finally got the custom top panel in and now I can continue modding the Dragon Slayer.

I had the grill offset to try and allow for full size fan support. I will still need to be careful with my motherboard selection. Here are a few shots of the top panel with 240 rad and fans mounted in hte case.

Next up is to get the case ready for paint and decide what to do with the front panel.

top fan grille looks good! that case is also growing on be a bit the more i look at it.

Thanks, It will look much better after I get everything all painted. This is a nice mATX case, probably one of the best imo. I am going put another 240 rad in the front and paint the case black. I have not decided on an accent color yet, I guess i will have to see which motherboard I can use.

Yes it definitely looks like a good quality/functional small case. I have been luke-warm on InWin and various other brands that have "busy" designs for their cases like the Antec DF-85,35,30, etc and the Lanboy air, (anything from thermaltake as well), as I generally prefer a more minimal simple design for cases, but the more I look at this it is growing on me aesthetically. Same goes for almost everything cooler master makes at the moment with the exception of the Cosmos II.

I am with you, I prefer a nice simple design. :)

Update: Well I played hooky from work today partly because of some head congestion but mostly to get some work done on my case.

Front panel is preped and ready for paint.
IMG_3275.jpg

I was able to get the filled in areas were the logo and the front I/O very smooth and after it is painted it should look really good.

I also removed the lower HDD cage.
IMG_3278.jpg

Now there is ample room in the front of the case.

I also painted the front mesh silver.

I am thinking of getting the case powder coated gloss black? The overall color scheme is going to be black and silver.

Let me know what you all think of the direction this is going. I really do not have any set plans and letting this evolve on its own.

The front panel is all primed.

A little off topic but I wanted to share with you my progress on learning how to spray paint. I have been researching and experimenting for a while now. Taking advice and learning the tricks. Here are a few pics of the progress I have made.
Sorry for the poor camera work, I am not a photographer and barley know how to use this camera.
I applied two coats of primer and three coats of blue Krylon spray paint.

I was able to get a very smooth reflective finish.

Overall the end product is pretty good, there are a couple small imperfections but I think with time and more practice I will be able to achieve even better results.
