Problem - MSI P35 + Q6600

I think I got one of those odd annoying problems with no exact answer again.

Its only detecting 2 cores and giving me no option to turn on more. CPU-Z displays it like its a dual core yet detects a Q6600.

Also If i cut the power completly it takes a LOT of restarts for me to get any boot screen.

Dunno if its a solvable problem tbh. Reseting bios re-seating CPU do not work.

Try flashing the bios to lastest. I have had this issue when lots of restarts occur. But one reset fixes it.

So something is going wrong here (duh). :)

Have you got any overclock?

Thats another thing actually, it always defaults at 1333mhz FSB.

Now this isn't a problem as it can easily clock that high and I'm watercooled.. I want it overclocked.. but I cant physically go below 1333fsb.

I'll just keep reseting and if I can get the thing to boot again, I'll give it a flash :)

It does sound like the bios doesn`t understand what a quad core is. I`ve seen it b4. Supprized at a 35 chipset mobo tho.

Exactly what I was thinking. Even now iv bios flashed it again with the latest it still wont recognise it...

There are some jumpers on the board that I know ive done correctly, iv also tried several combinations. Gonna try em all 1 by 1 and see if I get anywhere :)

Had a nice read thanks. Unfortunately the answer was there is no solution. Seen several other threads online which say the same thing.. looks like RMA for me lol...

Who knows.. since they don't even list that board for sale anymore they may even step me up :D

Would be nice as I wanted a new motherboard. Wouldn't mind a P45 or something lmao..

Although I doubt it :(

Thanks for the help and time, much appreciated.
