Hi everyone.. im Me!
Ok here goes, i dont do short posts..
My names Brett, Im 39 and live all the way down in sunny Devon. ive been a fellow OC3D YouTube channel watcher for the past month or so and thought id better pop along and register on here and join in with all the FUN
I really enjoy putting PCs together, ive got a thing about fans.. oh and not forgetting the wires.. i love wires.. especially tidy ones! I really like tidy wires.
Im kinda new to building, but not new if you get what i mean.. when i was in my early 20s (many many years ago) i was one of those silly people that bought a pre-built system from a very well known electronics store you normally find between Sainsburys and DFS, cant remember the exact specs but it was an eMachines tower with an intel Celeron running XP and it was absolute poo, getting stuck all the time and out of extreme frustration i decided to build myself a system out of second hard parts from eBay. I ended up deciding to go with an all Gigabyte rig, black case, motherboard, 4gb of RAM and a Gigabyte Silent Pipe 3 graphics card.. i picked up a brand new Intel E6850 for around £150 if i remember correctly... For me that was a beast of a rig.. it flew.. i ended up giving it to my brother in Essex and regretted it ever since, still miss it.. Would love to have that E6850 back just to have a play around
So here i am 13 or so years later (maybe 18yrs) and ive got back into building myself a half decent computer again.. my new re-found hobby.
It all restarted after moving into a new flat 3yrs ago and stumbling over an old Acer tower in the loft left behind by the previous owners, i didnt have a desktop so decided to bring it down and see if it started up.. it had no HDD or PSU but the motherboard was still there with an intel E2160 CPU.. so i bought a few bits and it just worked.. slowly.. but it worked.. Then i got bored and out came the Dremmel.. Cut a hole on the side panel, fitted some blue tinted perspex, a couple of LED strips and started modding.. Excellent fun and now im hooked
Not much still exists of the original Acer tower, i replaced the motherboard with a second hand Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2H bundled with an intel i5 661 which i won for £65 in an ebay auction a few months ago... And now its all sitting snugly inside a Thermaltake V31 Got my eye on a few new bits that shall be in the post next week as soon payday arrives!
so.. anyway.. thats a *short* story about me and how i got into building my new interweb machine
Thanks to all the OC3D team for being here and doing what you all do best :hello:
Its a pleasure to be here
