PC5300 or PC6400...

Hey all,

I recently upgraded to 4x1gb PC6400 but it didnt go well when trying to overclock. I now have a buyer for my current 4x1gb setup so I need to purchase a 2x2gb set asap.

Now I only run my memory at 333mhz on a 1:1 divider so is PC6400 a bit of a waste of money. Would PC5300 be sufficent since 333mhz is its native speed isnt it?

The only thing that is making it a hard choice is that the PC6400 set is only £5 more. Would it be a waste of money getting PC6400 since I only run at 333mhz and never plan on going any higher?

Dont know, Just set the divider in my Bios to 2.0 and this is what it shows in CPU-Z.

Just change the divider? No point in not using the power it has.. if not a little more.

You're forgetting that it's DDR2. So that's 334Mhz X 2 = ~667Mhz.

Does the DS3 allow for 1000Mhz ram? Unless you just havent updated your profile

haha, yeh i used to have that board, with a max of DDR2 800, so i guess you could just underclock the RAM.
