PC wont boot?

Hi...

Friend's PC, built it and had no end of problems with watercooling, and now hard ware issues...

after running and installing all updates fine, even after running stress programs and benchmarks, and otherwise just normal use, now the PC wont boot.

The initial bios message displays, with the post bleep, then just a black screen.

All cables are plugged in, CMOS battery has been removed, graphics card removed and HDMI put into the on board graphics, various cmos resets, and still the same. Also unplugged every drive and all usb devices and still nothing.

Any ideas?

Switched to onboard graphics through vga and it did work, then even let me switch back to the graphics card and that worked too. Windows now runs fine, and it boots absolutely fine, but the BIOS is so glitchy.
Pressing delete does load it, but the mouse is ridiculously laggy, and it behaves like windows 98 when it crashed - ie - loads of windows on top of each other, and stuff like that? hard to explain :)

RMA the board? Or is this a usual problem with these boards?

Th BIOS has been updated and downgraded several times, and now we cant even get into the BIOS. Resetting the CMOS does nothing so I think the board/bios chip is dodgey.

The board has been RMAed so we'll see what happens. We have also ordered a ne ASUS board (P8Z77 Deluxe) so hopefully that will fix any problems

thanks! It's at least a very big brand, not that gigabyte isnt, but i also have the same board, so i know my way around it better
