Official OC3D Project Cars January Challenge

Settings don't matter, aids on or off, personally, the only aid I use is ABS.
I have the driving line on but change to my own line for certain sections.
Damage is irrelevant, easier to have it set to off so that you don't have to restart the time trial session if you do make a mistake on the lap. If racing, then yes it needs to be on, but for timed laps, no point.

Ultimately, if it is valid on the leader board in game, it's valid here.

Where do you change the driving model? What does it change?

I have set another time of 2:39.917 with no aids and full damage on. Just using auto gears, auto clutch and driving line. So I would say that the aids do slow you down.

Of course they matter, they make the skill required to complete a lap a non-level playing field. While you or I might be able to control the power of some cars without things like traction control, others may not, and just having the game do it is an unfair advantage overall, even if that can ultimately make you slower. ABS makes a *massive* difference in how fast/safely you can stop a car in PCars, and is a huge advantage technically over not having it.

Damage isn't irrelevant, there are some sections of track where if you choose to cut a corner in some way it would cause enough damage to make a difference to a car's performance, that's a risk that shouldn't be negated by cheesing it with no damage. The lap needs to be clean :P Might not seem *as* relevant in something like an EVO, but when it comes to things like Open Wheel classes there are definitely some gouda level cheese cuts to be made with damage off which isn't cool. Granted, if you screw the car, you'll probably restart it, which is fine and expected, but it's another level playing field type of thing.

I just double checked driving model, it sounds like this is mostly left over from development (which is why I thought it still made a difference) apparently all it does now is set the level and amount of assists on by default, so ultimately it's just a sign of what assists you had it set to when you booted up I guess. That site shows assists so ultimately it doesn't matter really :) (But it used to, which is why I flagged it).

Nice laptime :)

I buggered my leg playing hockey last night so I'll give it a try with the controller. Don't expect much. It's interesting following other peoples hot laps and seeing their style.

I am pretty impressed with some peoples times with the controller. I was doing 2:49 and I see some doing 9 sec or more faster.

possible signs im getting old and my reflexes are not what they used to be... thats my excuse and going to stick with as the reason I did not "tan your a**" as i said I would :D

I don't normally like these track racing games, but this you actually have to use the brake normally it's finger off gas for a second to go round that hairpin bend
