OC3D Throwback Thursday

Actually I need to correct myself, I don't think I returned that graphics card then, I know at some point I did but it might of been not long after I bought it and it took them weeks to give me another one, but I don't remember the time between that card and the next which was a 7600GT so maybe I did break it and send it back. O.o

I think it just went bust in games at the time when I was playing Medal of Honor Airbourne. Lol, that game was quite demanding, needed a whole 1GB of RAM to run smooth!

The best was LOTR: Middle-Earth I had 256MB at the time, had to upgrade to 512 to have it run smooth! :')

Awesome idea Tom, its great for those who have missed out on some crazy intresting hardware that came out as well as seeing how the industry and hardware have change in only a few years.:cool::cool:

Can't wait to see more :)

What were the cases back in the day, mine was a Thermaltake Armor (yuck). My brother in law had the Antec Lanboy, I think he still has it in his loft, it's still a neat little case, I put my old rig in it only a few years ago until I got his Coolermaster Cosmos from him.

The first case I bought didn't have a name, but had a blue (I'm sure it was 80mm lol) side panel fan and I think it had some PCI bracket or something that was supposed to change the colour to your music or something ridiculous, that was the selling point for me although I never tried it lmao.

I might have a Lian Li V1000

Off the top of my head I can't remember it but just had a Google and it still looks nice!

As far back I remember case wise was the Silverstone Temjin's. The Antec P something, it was silver I think.

Edit: The Antec P160. :)

Wasn't that Dell's gaming rig before they bought Alienware? I used to really want an Alienware. :D

Just been Googling the 6800's and found a little comparison. I couldn't remember ATi's top card at the time but I do now. :)

XPS is kinda like their luxury brand nowadays but yeah I think it was their gaming brand. I owned a Alienware R3 case for a while as I kinda like the look of them . I was going to a bunch of mods to it and WC it but they're really not that well designed on the scale of things.

I was originally going to put my current build in one since I think they are sexy, I finally found one on eBay, won it but couldn't ever get down to pick it up so he only gave me a week then put it back on eBay, glad I didn't though because I'd imagine new GPU's won't fit for a start.

Edit: Remember these? :)

My brother had one of those.

Did someone just say Voodoo2??? That was my first huge upgrade. It made my old Pentium 166mmx beat the hell out of those fast pentium 2s when it came to gaming. I miss the feeling I had back then when I bought a new game or piece of hardware.

\../ Yes \../ Yes \../ Yes \../ Yes \../ Yes

i have a 6990 sitting in a box right next to me 2 old cases, several motherboards and some memory :P too hard to throw the stuff away, it's illegal to put it in the trash and the council only do specialty drop off days a few times a year here in South Australia dunno about your neck of the woods.

I like this idea! I have lots of stuffs from the old days! I have a working VIA C3 750MHz micro ITX mobo working with windows 7....:) I had a Sapphire Radeon 1950GT also got an Cyrix x586 processor as well...:)

It would be a great idea for someone like me who only got into PC few years back (around the time Sandy Bridge was launched). I've missed so much and would love to see the older stuff to see just how far we have come. =)

Crazy how this old stuff makes me want to buy it all again and build a rig but I'd have no use for it, unless they kick ass at folding or something.

Ahh the good old days. :)

I remember a mate sli'ing two 6600's at the time in a new flashy rig, we were all like... whoa... ;) I won't speak about how bad the cpu cooler looked... :p
