evening all. yesterday when i got home and my pc was on but nothing on tbe screen. restarted but got artifacts when posting. i reseated the card and posted again. sadly there was some kind of fire... so i imagine it died. any ideas for a nww card as good as a 7900GS for forty quid? thanks. ps done this on my mp3 player!

You could get a HD3650 (click). Its got various good features, like 512MB onboard VRAM, dual DVI output, and it's about as good as the 8600GT but for £20 less.

I bit the bullet and just went for a 4670... a little above my initial though, and I could just return the 7900GS for a replacement but it was a bit power hungry and this might "keep my electricity bills down" or at least thats what I tell myself.
The 8500/9500GT etc are tempting. but they are old hat just rebranded which is just cheap. Was nearly tempted but the 3650 but just decided to future proof myself

Good Luck, and a I think you made a good call. I was lucky enough to win a 4670 yesterday in OC3D's FEAR game. I can't wait for it to arrive!

I think you made the right choice. It's better to get quality over cheap graphics.
