Hi all

Antec 1200 v.1
i3 520 in a Gigabyte socket 1156 motherboard
Leadtek GTX280 1Gb
Tagan BZ 650w (Ithink the)
1TB Spinpoint F1
4Gb Corsair XMS

Looking to build new as what I got is just old now lol

P.s. I really like the new Corsair SP & AF fans

Got £500 so far, main use is gaming, want it to last 2 to 3 years :)

Thanks guys/gals :)

Defos an upgrade incrementally.

Intel Core i5 3570K
Asus P8Z77-V PRO Intel Z77

GTX 670/680

Good luck finding that for £500...

Worth keeping the case, maybe even the psu.

I was going to say get a MSI Z77-G45, 3570k and a 7850. Then put int 8gb of Mushkin RAM. That's your £500.

Then sell the cpu, board, RAM, and you'll have enough for a better cpu cooler, and if you're selling your psu too, then may as well get a decent corsair one.

If you can push the budget to around £520 then you could go with an MSI Z77A G43 for £70, a 3570k for £175, 8gb of Mushkin for £35 and a HD 7950 for £240

Thanks for reply :)
Could you recommend an nVidia GPU as I prefer them and I'm more familiar with then :)

For that price these days, no. The 7950, 7870 and 7850 dominate the mid range market currently.

We're waiting on the release of the 660s and 660tis which would be the cards to compete, but they could be a couple of months

My £500 isn't a definitive budget, it's just what I have so far so don't worry about suggesting better spec, I'm happy with my pc until i can buy everything in one go :)

Well we've given the kind of spec that me and Seumas suggest to everyone on here looking for a gaming PC.
You dont really need to spend much more.

Lets say you have £500, and you're selling everything from the old rig apart from the HDD and the case. How much are you selling the stuff for?

I was going to buy all at same time and sell everything minus HDD for around £200, was going to get HAF-X case for new rig and use Corsair SP & AF fans with the Corsair fans in a Noctua D-14.

I think that the motherboard and the CPU should be one of the latter things to upgrade, as they'll stil work PERFECTLY fine for a gaming rig.
Work on getting a new GPU, RAM, PSU, SSD etc. first. Then, when you have more money, you can think about upgrading your CPU. By that time, perhaps Haswel will be released.

Thanks for all the replies, I do appreciate them :)

If I got a SSD now, wouldn't my mobo bottleneck it because it's not SATA III 6Gbs?

Yeh, you obviously won't get SATA III speeds. An SSD would only improve loading times, whether it be the booting process or software and games.
