Got all my speakers installed and working, just need some new rears to replace the cheapo acoustic solutions at the back (they still sound not too bad though)

My Gale floorstanders at the front are pretty decent too

It all sounds pretty lush and means that my 360, PS3 and PC can all be connected to one nice sounding setup via Optical

I'll be giving some more pics once I've got the TV installed along with some neat shelving and all my trunking installed so it's all neat and tidy :)

tbh 5.1's enough for anyone

you say that but once you experience the difference...

its a bit like 720p to 1080p

everyone is 'happy' at 720p (well most)

but once you get 1080. you'd never go back, the extra channels do help with sound positioning quite a bit :) and its UBER for High Def movies :D

My best mates just upgraded his awesome Jamo 5.1 system to a 7.1 system and the difference is minimal. He's got a very high end Arcam Amp and quite frankly apart from the odd little bit of sounds you barely notice

I agree on the 1080p/720p thing though, once you've gone 1080p you won't go back :D

i have 7.1 and i'd never go back down :D

i've spotted the 8.1 option in something i believe thats just another rear channel in the centre though lol.. wow

yea well my mate technically has 15.4 sound

not that its any more than every speaker giving out the same sound at once...but 4 subs (and bass bins) cannot be bad xD

im still on a good old discontinued creative 5.1 digital setup (possibly worth less than £20 new now)

I am really thinking about hooking up a 1000watts JBL Sub woofer and a 500watts JBL GTO Amplifier to my PC and need to figure out a way to do so. Probably impossible

If those are car audio then you can do it but you shouldn't. House audio just doesn't need that sort of volume. Having 2000w in your car (like I used to) is all very well but it won't sound good in a house
