MSN Virus - Warning

anyone that has my work MSN or Home msn please watch out...we seem to have picked up a virus that sends random links and will also pick up your address book and send it to them.

Currently trying to resolve the issue but obviously don't click on any links or files that comes from my MSN.

The amount of people with these msn "link viruses" are outstanding!!

Wish msn would stop adding bloat and ads to it, and actually make the thing less virus SAFE and a bit less memory useage would be nice

Xfire isnt too bad atm, and playxpert has gone to sleep for a while Pidgin was quite nice on ubuntu

I'm not sure how Legal this is (but I'm sure Microsoft would have sued them several times over if it wasn't), but do a search on google for WLM Lite. It is basically MSN messenger with all the crappy ads stripped out of it and it is portable too (no install required).

Basic MSN works on very .... basic principles. Wouldn`t at all be supprise if it wasn`t scewed irc. The ones with bells, whistles and other annoyances is a bit different.

I`m not totally sure if it required for any sources to be released or anything, but as u`ll know, the Mac can talk to it, unix machines can - there`s even an msn thing for an Amiga.

Heck there`s a website portal thingy out there that can converge the chat of 3 or 4 different messengers to talk together.

Fudging h8 msn, used to use it alot, but the principle just does my head in now.

Cant you simply wipe messenger clean off your computer do a virus check and then re-install?

Basically, lol, you should of checked it out before you accepted the pic I saw it coming a mile off as soon as it appeared

Pidgin was quite nice on ubuntu

You can get that for windows. Its pretty good. No s*** and doesn't bug you every 40 seconds.

doing my head in now, done the usual remove from start up, delete recieved files etc...

still no joy

I sometimes click on them, just to see inside the zip

(I should probably point out this is using Kopete on Kubuntu, and have yet to be infected doing this )

U mean ur pc is still fuzzled ?

Download both ATF-Cleaner & SmitFraudFix, and run them in safemode.

Issues gone. If it`s still fuzzled, the OS is fudged.

Just downloaded that WLM light - amazing. It looks as nice as the usual msn live with all the usual buttons but it doesn't install anything....
