modding sabertooth thermal armor yay or nay??

so i've almost finished my new build, and got the awesome looking sabertooth Z77

and i got to thinking is there a good reason why i can't paint it or put a vinyl cover over it?

so what do lovely people think??

No reason not to do it.
It doesn't really serve as any benefit to the cooling anyway.

yeah i just emailed asus for a sabertooth z77 replacement thermal armor just in case they don't let me RMA it because of the paint job lol

yeah i just need to make sure i can still get a RMA if the board has a problems later in life, so i e-mailed asus and there being less then helpful, so i asked them if i can buy or have a 2nd thermal armor...... so if you know anyone who has one there not using or would like to sell it please let me know so i can get started

It's kind of fair enough that they wouldn't give you warranty. You would be modifying the product itself, and depending on the paint, could damage the board I'd guess.

Your best bet would be trying people on the Corsair support forums. Maybe one of the mods on there could sort you out.
I think it's very unlikely though.

yeah i understand that but wish they would say yes or no or sell me the thermal armor from one of there broken ones or is that just wishful thinking?
