Is there anything in the custom built PC world that we dont have?

Sorry if this thread doesn't belong here but I dont know where else to put it - mods, please move if you need to.

As well as being in to pc building, I am an IT geek for my day job and I also program a little when I can (C#, ASP, MVC, SQL etc). I recently got in to electronics prototyping using devices called Arduinos

If you haven't come accross them before (and you're a bit of a geek) then take a look. Basically, they are a way of being able to build and code a platform to work with tons of different things like LCD displays, servos, motors, temp sensors, light sensors, RFID tags, LEDs etc etc - literally, the sky (and your imagination) is the limit!

So - the reason for this post is that I have been trying to think of a project that could help me and others on this site with thier rigs. Can anyone think of anything that they could really use a gadet for that isn't out there at the moment? A good exaple is a fan controller but obviously there are loads out there already and there is no point re-inventing the wheel.

I really want to get a side hobby project going but I can't think of anything.

Any suggestions? Technially, anything is possible!

the only thnik i can think of that would help me are fan on off buttons, something simple and easy, something like snap to dial, 1-5 and on off button/switch that would switch leds on and off, also another dial for rpm next to it would be very nice.

if you can get something like that done i will consider buying it, a 3.5" would be prefered

I like this post as I too am a bit of geek this interests me greatly

Using these is it possible to adapt certain things that already exist for example I have a HAF X case which has a red light included in the front fan and a switch on the top would it possible to create a remote to allow my led light or any led lights connected to the computer to be switched on just a quick idea within 5 minutes with more time and a bit of research I can think of a more complex one.

Remote controlled from a seperate handset (like a TV remote but smaller) or remote controlled from Windows?

How about some form of cooling system that incorporated a heat transfer plate that you could put your coffee mug on that transfers the heat into your coffee thus keeping it warm, that would be genius!
