internet speed

I use my internet connection for downloading files most of the time. I never really upload any besides picture...

The question is what would be better to have more on upload or download speed. usually my p2p is running and whenever I limit the upload to 15kB (downloading 750-900 kB) my firefox is a lot more responsive which makes me wander which is a lot more important the upload or download....

Both the same, if you limit your upload on P2P then your webpages will load faster, download doesn't really matter.

if you are p2p such as torrent, then the faster u uplaod, the faster u download, so limiting your upload isnt always a good idea.

Not quite true, this all depends on the client, for example is BitLord, this has these in effect.

uTorrent is the best app for D/L torrents, no limit with up/down speed.

hey youngie. I see ur speedtest and It makes me wander how its too different on mine. Like your ping time and upload if you look at mine we both tested at 50 mile range..

by the way, I have a road runner at 5.0 but with firefox ultimate optimizer I achieve those numbers. without it maybe around 6000 kb/s.... So, I was wandering If you know how to tweak firefox to better my upload rate...

Yes it is big numbers but that's what came out on www.speedtest.net inspite of me having only 5 mb/s service. I just install an optimizer program for firefox and it boosted me the that point but on cnet bandwidth test gave me around 1000 more point

And yet I thought it would be an interesting topic... It came to my knowledge that I always get in trouble here... Why oh why??? its a forum and yet it limit what we talk about... Forums do have to operate within the law too and as mentioned above, OC3D is a company.

not all, there can be speed advantages having more than one thread downloading a file.

Are there still hacks/reg settings u can change for like IE ? Something along the lines of it defaults to a low number of connections at a time ? Might be an old thing.

Speed things for dialup used to be fair enough, in all honesty they changed like 3 driver settings or so.

Bah, only use IE in work now anywho.
