just taken my Q6600 to 2.7ghz i know its not a massive overclock but its ok. And i was wondering if idle temps of 38c and loads temps from 5 minutes load 48c are ok? This is on cores 1 and 2.. 3 and 4 are usually 2c behing 1 and 2.

Vcore is 1.37

multi is set at 9

and the bus speed 300mhz.

dno i have my volts set to auto so.. its w/e the motherboard chose.

ill wack em down if they are too high but i think they'll be fine

Never leave the core voltage at auto when clocking.

You may find that once you do have a good overclock the auto setting is good until it gets put under load.

Anywhoo, the temps look good. :)

I think Mr Smith said that Quads can take up to 80oC.. so nothing to worry about.

So reckon i could get to 3Ghz on 1.3v? whats 3Ghz 333mhz? multi of 9.

would i need to do anything to the RAM timings?

Also i think my temps are pretty high for water. Might clean my loop out and reseat the block.

Clean the Rad mate..

Quick and easy way to do it is to turn the PC off.. take it outside and blow alll the dust out with either compressed air.. or good old man power. :)

Depending on the last time you cleaned it should shave a good few oC off.

that helps alot, if i dont have compressed air i usually just find a straw, which works well.

Orite cool. Ill get it up to around 3Ghz when ive cleaned my loop out :)

So... when its up to around 3Ghz, will i need to change my RAM timings and volatages and PCI-E voltages.

not pci-e, you want them locked too 100mhz

try to keep your ram running slower than its stock as well, just to make sure it isnt crashing the pc over the cpu, then worry about them after

Okay cool. ill do that now. Does anyone know my RAM's stock volts? Its DDR2 667Mhz corsair XMS2 i have 4x512mb sticks

yer but i meant like.. a large increase of say 5c? i wouldnt see such a difference between say, 2.8 and 3ghz at the same 1.3v

no, but then just ramming up the volts and not clock speed wont massively increase temps, its a combo
