tried installing ubuntu and osx on my pc and in the process installed Acronis OS Selector

booted up, went in to it, only recognised the OSX install as 'unknown OS' and completely wouldnt show my windows install

chose the option 'deactivate os selector', restarted, tried to get in to windows and all i got was some random symbols.

pooed myself and tried using ubuntu to fix it with no avail. Thank the lord i found Hiren's boot CD in a cd folder i've got, drove to Maplins and got a 1TB Seagate Barracuda for £89.99 (reasonable especially as i didnt have to wait for them to post it) and cloned my windows drive to it which thank jebus worked!

soooooooooooooooo relieved

my advice to you all, don't mess with boot loaders if you're a retard like me and get Hiren's boot CD! saved my life!

i know i know i could've got it cheaper online but it was either maplins or pissy world and i needed it right there and then, and it worked so tbh i'm not that bothered about spending that little extra for a working pc!

If you're messing with hard drives/dual boots, ALWAYS have a backup. I mean always. I bought a Sammy F1 1TB yesterday second hand for £35, £90 is a total rip, I'd be tempted to take it back if I could!

you reckon maplins would accept it if i just took it back?

i might do that actually...

TTL, where'd you get an F3 for £60?

IIRC law states you get a 7 day entitlement to a full refund without reason. After that you get a 30 day failure money back guarantee and after that a years replacement warranty.

Buying online actually gives you better options that buying in stores though due to the distant selling laws.
