Help with draining.

Afternoon guys.

Right, I want to drain and give the old girl a clean. The res came with connectors on it which can be unscrewed.

Will I be able to unscrew them so I can drain and clean then put back together without them leaking?

And how to clean? I first will drain the loop, then what can i use to clean the loop? What household cleaning products are safe for the plastics?

Obtain a large bowl an undo a barb over that. preferable one at the bottom of the loop (the pump should be there).

If you have a rez, open the access port on their as water has an annoying tendency of not draining after a point.

Depends what's in there really. I've not found anything that actually cleans tubing simply running it around the loop, although there is a special stuff out there (i think alphacool make it) for this purpose. ST at least used to sell it.

To do it properly you need to strip it all out and clean each bit individually i reckon. Including dismantling blocks and getting a old toothbrush too them if necessary.

Done a minimal clean, just replaced water and cleaned parts that are easy to get to.

On a slightly different subject, I seem to be getting up to 69oC on two of my 4 cores when load. But yet I can't feel this heat. Even if I lodge my finger under the block to get an even closer feel on the CPU.

Any ideas?

Core Temp is giving me a reading of around 67-68oC at load.

Now for water that is hot.

try a few other program (smartdoc, speedfan etc) and see what they say.

If youve got a digi thermometer then use that on the side of the IHS.

IMO you've got a bogus reading. But you need to do as many tests as possible to make sure.

got some air trapped in your radiator? or water block for that matter.

Nope, I have just spent the last hour "dry" testing the loop, all bubbles have come out.

Or at least I hope they have.

Filled it to the brim a few times, then ran the pump to move some water. Until the water level stopped dropping and then did it again. Kept do that until the level of water didn't change and you cannot hear water sloshing about in the rad.

Fingers crossed it is just dodgy software.

Coretemp - 67oC

SpeedFan - 48oC

Just for Info there is a solution which home brewers use to clean their pipes and containers etc called MILTON solution costs about £5 for loads, a teaspoon in a litre of water is enough. Then just flush through with water and pipes etc will be sterile.

I think Core Temp is wrong, Asus ProbeII says 51oC just like Speedfan.

Taken into account that speedfan takes Q6600 temps 15c under what they should be?

51c sounds fine.
