Maybe you applied the wrong way about things
I've been lucky
Applied at three different places (woolworths, local pub, local car showroom) and got accepted by all three xD
What were their reasons?
maybe, but i didnt lie on my form, i have no previous jobs, and all i have is my qualifications, so thats all i put down

Whereabouts in the country do you live?
A little tip for your CV too, don't list your grades. I know as a hiring manager I never looked at grades, more at the person and their experiences.
Same was true when I was doing recruitment, the most important thing is who you are, what you've done and what you can offer. I've seen people with 4 A's at A levels be rejected for jobs, and people with no qualifications taken on for the same job.
Believe it or not, there *is* such a thing as being over-qualified.
Volounteer work is a good idea and can be an invaluable experience especially when applying for jobs as it show's commitment to doing something that's no purely for personal gain and that you'd like to develop yourself into something other than a "youth of today".
If you can drive and own your own car, make sure that's on your CV too. Employers like to know that you don't have to rely on public transport
Hope that helps.
i live in bridlington, a small little seaside town in the north east cost between hull and scarborough, two bigger, nicer towns...
i only have my grades

i have no previous experience, no volunteer experience, nothing..
i have 5 C's, 3 D's, 2 E's at GCSE, and 2 E's at AS level, i'm now working on a Btec diploma from college, and am doing key skills in english
volunteer work has nothing that interests me though, and asmuch as i'd "love" to go to africa to pump water or whatever, its not somthing that interests me so much....
if there was a volunteer job for say....testing pc parts, i'd be allover it like a fly over S**T
and i can drive....not passed my test yet, but i am driving around on my provisional, in my grans car, i've had my insurance paid for me, and thats going well, no claims *yet* ...but it has only been two weeks

lol
i dont intend to put in any claims though...
and thanks, its summet to think bout

Sometimes its nice to have nothing to do so you can just chill.
@ionicle, If you are really bored mate have you thought about volunteer work? Footy coach for kids etc, theres loads of stuff to do if helping others.
also at NNN and any one else on here You could always register yourself at the local business link as a PC consultant, you may be surprised at the results.
i know, it is nice, but you can only complete a ps2 game so many times before you know every button, every move off by heart...hense why i just traded my ps2 in for a ps3
there is nothing really for volunteering around here, if i volunteered for anything, i'd get shipped off to africa, where i could get maleria, and other mad desises, no thank you very much
and what is a business link?

.. nah u lost me there.
U know I actually get pished off when people `suddenly` ask me to do things (good or bad things) - cos it takes up time!
If it`s something I know it advance, I haven`t a problem.
GF(s) ? .. on the phone, all the time, hours.. wanting to do stuff.. "wouldn`t it be nice"... "oh my mom wants to .." ... *cold shiver* been there, done it, don`t want one. Not even if it was Kylie.
Aint we all different lol.
.. next job app. Put the results the other way around. Don`t think many people get hounded for putting worse results on an app, and if it`s picked up in some way - oops, I put them the wrong way around when I typed into the pc >.< copy/paste blows.- effing windows!
ROFL
i see your point, i might give that a try
"me dum
me know nothing"
at next job interview
act like a neanderthol, and i might just get a job at tesco's
thanks everyone, given me some stuff to think bout
