I've had a horrific 24 hours... Fell down the stairs last Thursday. Really hurt my tailbone. Thankfully, that was it. It wasn't much better the next few days, but it was my Dad's 65th birthday, so I travelled to see him over the weekend. My wife was able to drive us.
Yesterday, I contacted my GP, who recommended phoning minor injuries. Minor injuries said to go to A&E, as it was a lower back injury. Both said I needed an X-ray.
Got to A&E at 4 PM. Got out at 4 AM. Yes, I was in there for 12 hours. How long was I with the Dr? 5 minutes. Said I didn't need an X-ray and that it would heal itself, and gave me some painkillers. Just basic painkillers and a page with some basic back stretches. What's worse is that 1.5 hours in, I was triaged and was told I would need an X-ray. So three times I was recommended an X-ray. If I knew that I was just going to be told to just carry on and have some painkillers, I wouldn't have gone.
So that was me, in a waiting room for 12 hours, where I couldn't comfortably stand or sit during that time. Today, I am in more pain because of having to wait there for that long in those conditions. When I requested a painkiller at midnight, I was told that I would be given one. Didn't get one.
Long story short, I am in more pain now.
