Finally started my new build

Well, I made myself a coffe, and read all the new posts. It looks like this thread is my main magnet to OC3D forums.
First of all I'm glad you've painted the plates. I like the result, and I feel really positive in this dark world, that my third(?) post on this forum helped someone!

Just an advice, when taking photos, use tripod and try to catch some natural light from big windows you got, that should make thing less blury. And at the end I'm waiting to see some progress from you, I like what you've done so far!
My post looks messy in terms of grammar.. sorry guys ^^

Did you take a shot as to how the sinks looked without the plates? Were they just plain black?

the board itself it not a very dark black the plates that have the yellow trim are dark black and the heatsinks under that are a dark grey

It is one the best looking boards around atm imho.

i agree, the only pcb color i like better is the dark brown that msi uses on the 7950 TFIII

and it wouldn't hurt if the actual pcb was a little bit darker shade of black, but thats just being fussy at this point, you only notice that if you have it out in bright light and you're looking close, once it's in the case you don't notice the shade it looks dark.

thats alright then

i didnt take a picture, but they're grey-ish

edit:
you can see the grey-ish color underneath the plate

I love what you did running the front panel cables and usb cables up behind the motherboard. that is properly properly neat!

as suggested above (thanks specgaming) i´ve removed the yellow plates from the motherboard heatsinks and painted them white

the removed plates
ready for paint

paint is on

now i just have to wait until the paint is dry :)
i havent yet thought about how to get the geforce gtx writing white
i might go with dinox not sure yet

more updates to come

how did u paint them? using a pray can i quese but did u sand them or just put it ontop of the yellow? I also want to do this.

I've been torturing myself looking at boards, and that MPower one is definitely the best looking. According to the reviews it should get you the most out of your chip as well. Those white accents look the business...
cheers mate... i'll let you know when i'm finished

i think the grey heatsinks have got something blue-ish mixed into the grey.
it doesnt look like proper dark grey, well thats what i think

i first masked it, then used a high grit sandpaper, and then painted it... with a spray can you're right :)

How's the build going? Your routing with the front panel cables is making me want to do that with my own ;) I've never liked how those front panel cables looked coming out through the grommet.

One thing I've noticed with my 650D case is that a few inches above the grommet along the bottom that lines up with normal ATX motherboards is another grommet that would line up with a smaller motherboard and that is right above where those front panel wires are, so I bet I could run them out through there and tuck them in a really neat loop along the motherboard like yours.

I will see what I can do about neatening those up I hope you don't mine my idea inspired by your idea ;)

hey CPMFW just come across your build log and read the lot in one hit, Rig is looking good dude we like :)

love the fact you stick with it and saved for 2 years for this, rigs like this can be a real drain on your pocket but this one looks very worth it mate ! ;)

Looking for a sound card at the mo for my White Elephant Build, you will have to let me know how you get on with this one here (asus xonar d2x)!! very interested !!

and love your mobo choice, i still fancy a build with this mixed with an MSI GTX680 Lightning, would need a yellow case though ;) maybe one for the future yeah !

Looking forward to your update :)
