img346nz.jpg

i´m still waiting for the h100i, the ax760i, the af120´s, the af 140 and some other bits and pieces so i started with modding the stryker... thanks tom for the roof mod guide for the trooper/stryker :)

i started with stripping down the case
img351s.jpg

pretty naked already :) now its time to say good bye to the handle
img357z.jpg

the cables were looking really messy... a couple of cable ties later it looks a lot better
img359a.jpg

ssd dock and all the rest is gone
img360k.jpg

alot of stuff
img363v.jpg

just a few screws
img358bu.jpg

now its time for some modding action :)
img361rt.jpg

the lines... i decided to keep holes to screw in the 3rd fan
img375c.jpg

after cutting
img376o.jpg

after filing and sanding
img377.jpg

with the fans installed
img381a.jpg

next thing the harddrive cages... i drilled a few holes so i can have fans in the front and the side. these fans will go and make room for the af 120´s two of the fans wont be very functional but it looks better with two fans on each side
img391z.jpg

i like it...
img392k.jpg

next thing is the handle... i want to keep the handle functional so i had to do two new plates for the handle
img364j.jpg

the new plates
img365r.jpg

new and old ones
img366p.jpg

img370l.jpg

now bend the handle
img372fn.jpg

and the other side
img371x.jpg

all together
img373x.jpg

new plates testfitted
img382q.jpg

with handle
img385w.jpg

img383xc.jpg

now get rid of the plastic underneath the mesh
wrapup.jpg

after the cutting
img378w.jpg

after sanding
img379f.jpg

with the mesh back on
img380y.jpg

now the cut underneath the handle... another thanks to ttl
img386e.jpg

with the handle
img387.jpg

and again
img389k.jpg

from above... havent painted the new handle plates yet
img390.jpg

the whole roof
img394pz.jpg

so far so good... havent thougt about how to fit the ssd´s yet. thats the next job. i havent got a name for the rig yet my surename is white maybe that could go into the name. hope you lot could can help me to find a name. please leave comments and thoughts

Wheres the rad? The 4 fan things looks utterly naff though and will ruin front airflow.
no rad yet i´ll start off with a h100i until i have saved up some more money to proper watercool it
will the airflow be that bad? if its a problem i´ll get rid of two fans... then i´ll need something else to put behind the mesh :)
pretty much exactly what i'd wanna build right now spec wise if i had the money. v jealous!
i´ve been saving for two years :) proper happy now

update

i thought about how to mount the ssd´s and thats what i came up with

i decided to make a mounting plate for the ssd´s
img395r.jpg

it will sit just underneath the mesh area of the side panel
img396cr.jpg

drilled the holes for the ssd´s... tomorrow i will make a cutout between the drives for the cables of the upper drive. maybe will even make one below the lower drive... so its all nice and tidy
img397p.jpg

ssd´s mounted
img398su.jpg

testfitted
img400z.jpg

i took out the mesh so i could see what i´m doing
img401.jpg

thats how it looks like with the mesh back on... i might move it slightly to the right
img402t.jpg

i´m still not sure which color i should use for the mounting plate, black or white? what do you lot think?

anyways i´ll be back

Very nice man. Nice kit you've got there. I'm not sure what the D2X is like but I had a play with the Essence STX recently and it was really lovely with my setup.

cheers mate... i havent used it yet but i´ve read alot of good things about it

keep an eye on the temps of the gpu buddy. i have 2 (one plugged in atm) and oc'd completely stable and its not a brutal oc either in ac3 my temps hit 80+. its running everything maxed at 2540*1440 crisp though. it might just be my one but i have blocks on the way for it but just keep an eye on it cos when that fan hits 80% you will be looking for someone to kill

thanks for the heads up... at the moment i just use one 1920x1080 monitor so i hope it dosent go crazy and make me want to kill someone :)

For the plate the SSD's mounted to - I would go white - think it would highlight the red of the SSD drives more. Any thought to some white LED back there?
