Excellent SSD recommendations?

They are better yeah. Toshiba makes their own NAND iirc so it gives them an edge.

I'm pretty sure the issues were related to the 840 Pro, unless I'm mistaken?

Anyway, I've had my 850 EVO for around 2.5 months and it's been rock solid (touch wood)

Yeah the pro sounds about right. Anyway, I think I'm going with the Kingston, looks good, good price and good speeds too.

I've had bad luck with Corsair SSD's, which is why I've moved onto other (more reliable) drives. Don't know much about SanDisk, I'm afraid.

Makes sense that you're staying away form them, then. I came back from the HyperX SSD after reading a couple of trustworthy reviews that had some doubts about its performance in heavy duty. Tripp has been helping me greatly tonight picking a Crucial MX200 500GB instead - 192 Euro only! And sure, there are some people to be found that don't like them (I have found some) but that's the same for every product. In my opinion Crucial is a good, solid brand.

I don't have anything against Crucial. I was running a 128 GB Crucial drive for 2 years before I upgraded.
 
I have ran an Samsung 840 Evo I think it is as my main OS and few program drive for years now and even before that I used an Corsair Force Series 3", which I now use for my games and both have been rock solid so far.

Got an Kingston HyperX for my moms PC, which I built off old PC parts, from my PC. Since I upgraded mine, I took the old parts and built her a better machine, for her purposes.

And that one has also been solid for months now as well :)
