eVGA GeForce 8800 GT

Alright, have ordered the eVGA GeForce 8800 GT a few minutes ago.

I wasn't sure about this card when I placed the order for my other computer items, but the person who took the order convinced me to the point that this is the card to go for and he managed to calm me down regarding my heat-problem concerns ... I then just ordered it .

I know for Crysis and Flightsimulator X for example - every single FPS counts.

Hopefully I won't get my case in flames one day, hehe.

eVGA ! Please don't let me down ! :wavey:

I was really unsure which one to get, the 8800 GT or the 9600 GT.

The 9600 is reported to run approx 20 degrees cooler but has about 10 to 15 % lower performance.

Your better off with an 8800GT, current Nvidia GPU's are specced to slow down at 105°C, so I wouldn't worry too much about that

The whiney fan can be a little annoying, but that's what 3rd party coolers are for tbh

Have ordere this 3rd party cooler for it too, the Zalman VF900-CU:

And the reason why was so worried about the heat is my SFF mATX case.

I guess that a hot card (in many respects!) can cause a problem.

With almost 100 degrees C you could already boil water !

Here's my case:

Someone on another forum told me his VF900 worked fine on his 8800gt passively!

He'd forgotten to plug the fan in.

I wouldn't recommend you try it :)

I've just sold an 8800gt with a zalman vf1000 cooler, and that looked an impressive bit of kit, so I'm sure the 900 will be cool (in more ways than one)

If it gets too hot can you not get a bigger case?
