Elite: Dangerous - Have we found the next Crysis?

Your whole opinion is based on "Star Citizen has nothing on this", followed by stating that this game does everything better than Star Citizen, hence implying that the games have the same goals and priorities. Don't give me the "i'm just stating my opinion, i don't have to validate it" bs.

Its still my opinion. I still don't care.

Probably going to get this soon. Just gotta wait for some money:p

Actually, saying that, I'm not sure if they'll leave the premium beta running after today, as it's the last day you can buy it. We'll see...

I should be able to get a stream up at some point this week, I'm thinking possibly Thursday or Friday night, I'll have a buddy flying with me for funsies.

I'll show some of the single player missions as well as the multiplayer :)

If there's something in particular you want to see, make a list!

I'll do a Beta launch stream for the 29th as well if people are interested, there will be chuffin' loads to see then!!

@Seeka, yeah dude, walk around ships, walking around starports/stations and interacting with others, boarding other people's vessels, and landing on planets are all on the DLC roadmap.

As for how it will work, they made (and subsequently canned due to publisher issues i hear) a 3rd person shooter type of game ( i forget the name but it actually looked a lot like watchdogs from the footage i saw earlier), the engine is more than capable of doing it, also the planets will be procedurally generated :) so there will be plenty to see!

Not very fond of the whole DLC thing. Announcing DLC before a game even reaches beta is sort of outrageous.
I do like the procedurally generated space though.

Can't even buy it anymore. What was the difference between that and the normal beta for 60€?

Just realised but its cheaper to buy the game and the lifetime expansion pack by $50. So for the premium Beta is another $50 just to play it now. I don't think its worth that much. $100 is already pushing it. Opinions on that?

Okay buying the premium beta now is utterly pointless. Premium beta ends in a couple of days anyways and the normal beta + hurr durr DLC is 20 euros less

/edit
Fuck it, bought it.
I am a cheap fuck, so i paid in dollars instead of euros, saved me 8 euros.
All you UK guys, you can save even more in dollars. 12 quid.

with regards DLC, they're just saying what will come and how they intend to expand it from launch. They are just putting that into packs, it's not like map packs, or game modes, it's full on extra content. I don't see any harm in paying for that, especially when it got me loads of game time and i get all the future content for that price.
*shrug* guess it's worth what you make it really.

Paid for it as well, DLC is just such an ugly term. They should rather have content triggers than packages, like humble bundle. It really is the same crap, but at least it doesn't come with the douchebag moneymilker image.

Now you just need a HOTAS Joystick setup and you're off! ;)

I have a ~12 year old logitech joystick. Hasn't been used in at least 8 years.

Heh, should be alright :) You might need to submit it's VendorID to the team on the forums though as it might not be recognised by the game straight off.

I have a ~10 year old madcatz (I think!) usb joystick. Thing works on any os ever I swear.

Also tried Star Citizen dogfighting, its not that good. Flying is pretty crap feeling tbh.

From what I've seen it's all mouse/keyboard favoured as their yaw-rate is basically the same as pitch, Elite is very much a stick fighter, in that it's roll and pitch fighting instead of yaw (as mentioned before, much light in-atmosphere jets). It might not be super nutonian, but it 'feels' better if you ask me :)

Seeing this is bringing back memories of many hours playing Frontier Elite II all those years ago, and what I have seen so far of, makes it look every bit addictive as that. I can't wait to see how this game progresses, and for its release.

i stopped playing the premium beta a few months ago. it was so bloody good it was taking over my life! also, i didn't want to get all "Elited out" before the final release : )

with a decent HOTAS (warthog if you can push to it), pedals, track ir and voice attack it really is an amazing game, even in pre-beta. it's been worth every single penny i put up on the kickstarter.

Do you mean Newtonian?

i really want this :(

Buy it? The multiplayer beta starts on the 29th, would be nice to have an OC3D squadron going.
I just started wondering how to find anyone with there being about 66x more stars than people on this planet.

If I get it, can I be in your 'gang'? Or do I have to go through initiation or something. Like being stung by 50 Bullet Ants.
