Considering it's thrustmaster, yes it's very much worth it as a startup Hotas.
It splits apart so you can sit comfortably, has 2 rudder setups, so you can assign one to actual 'yaw' and one to lateral thrusters as well. It's a nice stick and has good reviews from what I've read on the Frontier peoplesphere.

Just wondering if the whole extra throttle is worth the expense on top of paying for the expensive game/dlc pass.

Pay once. $125 + subscription would be quite greedy. The subscription business model is dead anyways.

oh yes you want a seperate throttle, if nothing else just for the extra buttons and control over thrust direction while dogfighting. You can't win if you fly it like a plane
Hotas is 100% the setup for EPay once, play forever. You can get the base game for as little as £35, but the lifetime expansion pass (none of this season bullshit) will get you literally everything else.

Yes and no. Its in a much later stage on development so its much more "full" at the moment. It doesn't have much/any on foot activities, which is one of the things star cititzen has.

No it won't have that for launch but it is a planned expansion, as is plantery landing (manual ones, not cutscenes like star citizen). in-ship walk-around, boarding other people's ships, wondering around starports.. etc
