Differences in X-Fis

Well im considering a new soundcard. Question being, what actual difference is there between the different X-Fi models?

Mostly interested in the Audio and Music, possibly the Gamer as the others are just expensive...

Cheers :wavey:

I`ve seen maybe four different cards from Creative called an X-Fi up to now, some stripped down more than others.

Nothing new from Creative Labs, like a lottery lol.

Great cards tho tbf.

Thanks for the link allsorts. Why can't google find stuff like that...

Looks like the music is where its at tbh...

Those Drives are awesome tbh. Even if u don`t use them all the time, having the options is great.

Do u know if the remote that comes with them will work something like mc or vista`s menus ? The previous older models never >.<

bahh my remote i had to use a receiver of an audigy 4 for it too work i dont think the front bay has a ir receiver

The front bay has an IR reciever.

@Rast - not sure not really tried and seeing as I'm on Vista and there's a general lack of drivers for that I doubt it will for me. It switches applications etc in XP tho

what do i have to do so the ir works in the front bay :@ i connected it with the xfi card with an sort of ide cable but i havent seen any new hardware found or anything

Allsorts link is not working for me, I am looking at an X-fi and will be doing some research before plunging.

Already decided on my new headphones.

DONT GET THE AUDIO! its crap, the gamer is going to replace the music soon (the music has been disscontinued in the states). The gamer seems to be the same as the music but low profile, no gold connectors and less connectivity. So the music is where its at as it uses the same drivers as the gamer and is a little cheaper in the UK.

The music seems to be only OEM, can I confirm this comes with the front connectivity or is that just wishful thinking

I use a X-Fi Xtreme Music with my Logitech Z-5500's and they sound pretty awesome

Cant comment on what difference you will see though as I changed speakers and sound card at the same time.

I will be expecting a massive difference as i will be getting both at the same time as well, medusa sl-8790 and the x-fi music.

Other stuff in the pipeline too but these will come first as I need them most (decent air cooling and complete upgrade to follow) My logic is that chips will go down where as these will always stay at the current price more or less.

I am on onboard sound and sennheiser (music headphones atm)

Sorry about the link not working anymore, I just cutted & pasted what was on the address bar. The link was just these two pics anyway, no text.

Maybe the FlexiJack: Optical Out + Digital I/O columns refer to the ports on the back of the card, and the optical out you're talking about comes under the AD-EXT6 column (X-Fi I/O Drive)?

These are official Creative pics btw. You can navigate to them through Creative's home page -> Support -> Knowledge Base -> (choose your country) -> X-Fi -> 2 SID26156 X-Fi Sound Cards Compared.

Phew :).

Xtrememusic - Great sounding.

Shame about no optical out...I have to use coaxial to 3.5mm jack in the digital connection to use my speakers. Then take it out, replace with my mic 3.5mm jack everytime i want to use microphone - not fun
