Crysis sing player demo

well 1680x1050 all high was playable to me but i was being accepting of a few dips i guess, but medium is still pretty, runs ALOT smoother though :) i think it'l run alright once i get the rest of my system up to spec though :)

so much fun this game hehe i've played through the demo 4 times already taking a different route each time and its great fun no matter what you try hehe

When i click play in DX10 it get about 10 seconds into the menu and it crashes everytime.. But in DX9 it runs smoooooooooooth no slow down at all...

Not a bad demo, I am not finished yet, I got to the radar tower thing and had to stop playing.

Will finish it later.

The important question for me is will I see an average fps improvement with an 8800GT, or will the CPU bottleneck the fps? I'm sure the 8800 would allow me to play at 1680x1050 instead of 1280x1024, but it's not really worth it to me to upgrade just for the res at this point, since I'll be buying a whole new system in 6-8 months.

I need to do some CPU bound tests on mine to see if it's the physics/AI are causing the lag during firefights - which is the worst time for lag >.<

btw guys open the level editor and spawn yourself some kickass weapons :D law, and tac launchers are great for slowing down those re-inforcements lol

pesky boats be no more with a TAC up there rear end!!

lolz

spawned a sniper rifle too thats rather handy

its great

spawn whatever you want to play with (i might try a tank soon) then press ctrl+G and your into the game!!! its so fun lol

all i can say is WOW

looks very pretty on my barge of a machine, can only imagine what dx10 and a faster one would produce!

iirc it's not out for a while so hopefully ill have upgraded by then :yumyum:

Yeah, resolution is the main issue here.

People never state whar res they have the game at. (including me)

I was running at 1440x900. Ran like a dream.

Kemp, you must be able to run a little higher than that? :eh:

Well 1680 x 1050 2 x AA plays OK, but I can feel slowdown and I don't like it. I just shonked it down a bit to see how it did. I have very high standards of what the game is not playable at and 1680 x 1050 2 x AA isn't on my rig

All settings on "very high"

I certainly don't have the same high standard as you guys ;) when i say smooth on my rig, i guess many of you would not agree...

I get an average fps of 20, max 27, min 15, which are okay for me... although I may try to decrease resolution to 1440x900 or 1280x800 if really necessary in the full game.

i did, with my X2, when i just load for around a minute its 100% both cores, later on it goes down to 80-90% both cores

I would assume that u`r 3800 x2 is oc`d somewhat too. (just seen the 2.7 >.<)

Yikes!

What they state as min req in the readme ?

Anybody run this with a G15 and witnessed the cpu usage ?

With my second monitor on my GTX watching temos and task manager, my quad just isn't stressed in the slightest. It hasn't yet made use of one full core, it's been no higher than 20% atall, so they best make the final release quad optimized, i reckon there could be a large boost.

So at the moment i have a feeling that Physics etc is being offloaded to the GPU and not the CPU like it's been said it will.

Physics wont be offloaded to the GPU mate...

LOL o said that totally wrong lol, what i meant is it appears to be doing it on the GPU for the moment, as anytime any physics happen, eg blowing up buildings my CPU usage doesn't increase, it doesn't seem to be using the CPU atall, so hopefully it will./

Hidden in the demo's files there are some files in Bin 32 called "Benchmark CPU" and "Benchmark GPU"

The CPU one is blowing stuff up, the graphics is a fly thru of the map. Gives a fair indication of what does what.

Mine struggles on the CPU coming in at 10fps average but improves a lot in the GPU one.

Well it must be using the CPU, Crysis aren't using the GPU for physics at all afaik. Certainly if they were, they'd be shouting loud about it

@Ali - good point :)
