So, the missus' rig had been running a bit slow so we decide to overhaul her disk setup as we suspected her 3yr old SSD was getting a bit long in the tooth and her storage HDD was running slower than it should have. So we ordered a new SSD and a couple of new Bararcudas for a simple matrix RAID setup.
The bits arrived, I opened her case, and was greeted by this:
Obviously, that wasn't great. It also seemed the case had become a proper dust vacuum, with the AIO water cooler and graphics cards each carrying their own weight in crud. I'm genuinely surprised it wasn't thermally crippled by what I found.
Anyway, some dust filters have been ordered and I've added an extra side panel fan to try and get more positive pressure into the case. I stripped, cleaned and rebuilt and now it's a fair bit happier. I also took the opportunity to overclock it a little for her as it had been running stock since it was first built.
The specs:
CPU: Intel i5 2500K @ 4GHz
CPU COOLER: Corsair H60
RAM:8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 9-9-9-24
MOBO: Asus Sabertooth P67
GPU: AMD HD6850 1GB
HDD1:OCZ Vertex 450 128GB
HDD2: Crucial C300 64 GB Caching Drive
HDD3: 2 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda in matrix RAID (1TB RAID0 and 450GB RAID1)
HDD3: 1 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda Backup
CASE: Corsair Graphite 600T
PSU: Corsair TX650
4 hours later: It looks as new again
