Corsair 600T Horror Show (The missus' rig)

So, the missus' rig had been running a bit slow so we decide to overhaul her disk setup as we suspected her 3yr old SSD was getting a bit long in the tooth and her storage HDD was running slower than it should have. So we ordered a new SSD and a couple of new Bararcudas for a simple matrix RAID setup.

The bits arrived, I opened her case, and was greeted by this:

Obviously, that wasn't great. It also seemed the case had become a proper dust vacuum, with the AIO water cooler and graphics cards each carrying their own weight in crud. I'm genuinely surprised it wasn't thermally crippled by what I found.

Anyway, some dust filters have been ordered and I've added an extra side panel fan to try and get more positive pressure into the case. I stripped, cleaned and rebuilt and now it's a fair bit happier. I also took the opportunity to overclock it a little for her as it had been running stock since it was first built.

The specs:
CPU: Intel i5 2500K @ 4GHz
CPU COOLER: Corsair H60
RAM:8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 9-9-9-24
MOBO: Asus Sabertooth P67
GPU: AMD HD6850 1GB
HDD1:OCZ Vertex 450 128GB
HDD2: Crucial C300 64 GB Caching Drive
HDD3: 2 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda in matrix RAID (1TB RAID0 and 450GB RAID1)
HDD3: 1 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda Backup
CASE: Corsair Graphite 600T
PSU: Corsair TX650

4 hours later: It looks as new again :D

There was a thread from a guy, who found a dead spider in his brand new case. This looks like there has been a living one in yours.

Nice tidy up though, must be said.

Did you find the thing, and did you kill it with fire?

Thanks guys, it doesn't help that this machine lives on the floor under the desk. I guess it's a good advert for having a case windows! I think the biggest issue, tho, is I hadn't opened this one up in over a year.... :S

EDIT: Couldn't kill it with fire as it did a runner when I took the side-panel off. And I quite like spiders, just not inside computers...

how in the hell can a rig be so messed up within 3 years. also the 600t has a window (a mesh in your case) iirc, so how did you not spot that earlier?
nice tidying up, don't let it get wrecked twice :P

Disturbing and fascinating. At least one can say the spider had a good sense about them, building a home for itself in a sweet case haha
