Console vs PC

PC gaming - u have to be into it to do it to an extent. If u sum it all up over a year of upgrading and time spent installing and fixing/tweaking - u suddenly see that a £200/£300 console is pretty cheap and time saving. But it can be a frustrating fixed unit, it`s not like u can strip u`r console down and tweak stuff without closely getting into difficulty. But then it`s meant to be designed so u don`t have to.

As a builder, I`d love to see a console motherboard - and u add u`r own stuff.

I'm not sure what you mean by it's not plug and play....if you get a new peripheral it is plug and play. Buy a new game and it works offline and online immediately.

Guess it was kinda confusing sorry. Umm in simple you said you like console better cause you dont have to fiddle with things like you do no a PC. Well if a console has all this extra stuff on it like IPTV, Multimedia stuff, online browsers ect then your still fiddling with stuff on your console just like on a PC. Yes i know its different, but its still not JUST putting in your game and playing. I know SO many people who would like it to be just like old NES where you put your game in and go. No extras you have to pay for. If you think about it, without all the extra stuff consoles would be cheaper. The proof is in the pudding really. Get a torn down 360 and its cheaper, get all of the extra goodies and its more.

I wasn't necessarily saying a console is better overall, but certainly some gaming (casual and certain genres) it is better. I like the demo's, tralors and general goodies that come with Xbox live and tbh the dashboard is the easiest thing to use...ever so that's where the advantages lie imo

Wood effect front and timeless arcade classics like defender and frogger to play on! Sure, the gfx aint the best but they rock for fun/playability. For me the PC is where it's at...it aint just about the game....it's also about me building a system which impacts on how sweet a game looks and also how sweet the system I build looks...

Consoles have a place...but not on my desk.

for gaming, i prefer consoles

thats for everything, fps, stratagy, racing etc

but for music, video's, and comunicating, i prefer the pc

although, the xbox 360 is amasing on that front.....

Thats one of my main things too. I love to build a system and see how far i can push it graphics wise. See what kinda performance i get out of it. Here lately its been better than whats normaly expected.

Well you can't multitask on the console but you can on pc, I don't want to put on my favourite cd on my dusty cd player while looking for my 360 game under my bed which i can't find, What i want to do is throw on winamp and execute my mounted daemon icon of bf2 and just do that in under 10 seconds while surfing the web and using msn on the other screen.

PC is just a work equipment, its for work, you do things you need to do with a PC, a console is for fun, just like its intended, simple yet hours of fun.

How does the cd tray open if you ain't turned it on yet?

tbh my PC boots faster than my PS2, and im betting a 360 (only ever witnessed this once though). And a double click and im playing a game. And with a PC you can use any controller you want via attachments. And SFF mean you can get them as small as a wii too.

Unfortunately they'll never be a console vs pc winner.

Looks like we'll all have to settle this on the game Huxley when it comes out (MMOFPS) 360 gamers can game with pc gamers so we will find an end to this on the battlefield of 2008.

My 360 boots WAY faster than my pc the 360 turns on in like.. wat all of 6 seconds.. with a disc in its takes maybe 10 tops.. and your playing(well the menus are up)

Aye 360 boots far faster than my PC too Plus you open the CD tray and it turns itself on. Plus downloading patches is easier than wiping your backside..unlike some (most) PC games.

kemp - im going to get a 360 soon, you reckon the 20G HDD that comes with it in some package (£280 ones....i think) is good enough?

i've seen somewhere that had a bigger HDD, but have no idea what the big storage space is for.....what you reckon?

Well in the US there is a lot more content for the 360 but in the UK with say 5 game demo's on my HDD and a few 720p trailors I have found that 20gb is fine.

If you can afford the Elite get it by all means, but I wouldn't expect to be using all that space, plus once ur bored with a demo/trailor/short film....just delete it
