im having some problems choosing a card

i have 3 choices right now

1.buy an 512mb 8800gt

2.save some money by buying a 8800 gs 384mb

or

3.wait for 9600gt

what should i get

btw does the 8800gs cost about the same as an 8600gts which is around 200 canadian ?

and how much is the 9600gt suppose to cost

and last

is the 9600gt better then a 8800gt ?

well, personally i'd choose the 8800gt. it will still be a great card to use even after the 9600 launches, and if it's significantly slower than te 9600 in gameplay, you could always try overclocking. as for prices, i guess someone else will have to fill in that part, sorry

8800gt is best bet

8800 gs is an older model and dosnt perform as well

9600 is a mid range card and will most likely perform less than the 8800gt

Hope this helps

idk but i heard with the 9600gt its better when you turn AA or AF. idk why probably because i forgot but i read it in a thread

well, the way i see it it's kinda like comparing the old 7 series with the 8 series, i remember in some threads that did some 3dmark tests on the best 7 series card compared with some 8's and the 7950 was producing well enough of a score that it beat the 8300 and 8400 and was only beat by later models and this was without any overclocking, so if the trend continues with this then your best bet would be to get an 8800gt and if there's a big speed deficite then just do some overclocking and i'm sure it'll close the performance gap.

deathwish is correct. The 8800GT is a high to top card. The GS is just under that.

Looking at the 9600 is no doubt going to be a good card, but it`s aimed at the mid range of the generation that`s coming. U`ll probably get it, feel good about it for a while, then be upset that the 9800 come out.

It all depends on what sort of user or usage u want fom your pc. High or mid range.

lol well im not going to get an 9800 because im not a high end gamer like that

and im not going to spend that much money on comp parts

im a mid gamer

right now the 8800gt's are kind of expensive

the 8800gs is good but you guys are saying that the gs is not a great choice

but the 9600gt

are the benchmarks close to the 8800gt ?

and if the 9600gt is less then the 8800gt - should i get the 9600 then ?
