cant get gpu upgrade to work

hi, i have been roped into helping a friend. they recently bought a pc world hp pc (ugh)

i think this is the one, now they want to play games so bought a 550ti brand new, fitted it and it wouldn't work, this is where i came in, i upgraded the 300 watt psu to a 550 unit, but still nothing,m the gpu works in my rig. when the gpu is powered up in his there is no monitor signal from the gpu, not even in bios, or the on-board, works just fine without the gpu, but this doesn't help him, i dont know how to help him further,

i had a look in the bios but ther wer not many options, i dont remember seeing anything to do with gpu etc. but i will look again when i go there

Also. Boot into Windows with the Intel onboard AND the card plugged in.

Is Windows picking up the card?

Could be the UEFI Bios causing problems..
Do what AlienALX says and then install the drivers for the 550ti, you will probably lose your boot screen but windows will display once the driver is loaded..

Could also need a bios upgrade, the mobo bios might even be 'locked' by HP.. did you get a motherboard manufacturer?

i managed to turn that feature off, but it still wouldnt work...

he explained that when he first put a card in the screen came on, but in biug mode, he restarted it and it wouldn't work, then he had a load of post beeps, so he rma'd the card, got a replacement and this is where we are at now.

on the hp website it doesn't list any bios updates...

have reset the bios, but this pc only has one pcie x16, the link i shared is not the exact pc,

i didnt think to look for a manufacturer, the bios was american megatrends, didnt think to note any info down tho. doh!

FIXED. turns out that not only did i have to turn off secure start thing, but i had to enable legacy device support...

try working with people that ask you things and then you ask what kind of pc they have, and they say erm its white does that help?
